Reviews
We ordered parathas expecting them to be freshly made, as one would reasonably expect from an Indian restaurant. Instead, it was very clear that these were readymade frozen parathas that were simply cooked and sold as restaurant food. Even more worse, they were severely undercooked and not edible.
If I wanted frozen parathas, I could have bought them myself from a grocery store for a fraction of the price. Charging customers for poorly cooked, store-bought items without transparency is unacceptable. This was a complete letdown, and unfortunately, I won’t be ordering again.
This experience raises concerns about food quality and value.
This time I asked for a mild version of the onion pakora and they were happy to accommodate. Apparently the batter is made fresh for each order, so they were able to accommodate. It was fantastic!
We came here with much expectation based on the reviews but unless you’re truly sold to this establishment – it has not much to offer that’s worth it – flavor wise, concoction wise, nor price wise.
The dahi puri is okay – and from the photo you will see that it lacks the typical garnish and seasoning sadly.
The dabeli was decent but you have Hot Breads next door – theirs is significantly better – this location serves amongst the best dabeli in the US IMO (at least from a few years ago when I last had it).
The pav bhaji was passable but didn’t really seem freshly cooked.
The absolute disasters were the aloo paratha; too dry and seemed like frozen – clearly not made by someone who knew how to. The milkshakes (vanilla) were too milky and lacked the thickness of a proper shake. For the prices charged these were atrocious.
Surprisingly, the food goes even lower – the Bombay sandwich is a joke. If you need to experience a real one, then the trip to Little Sicily 2 outside Philadelphia is well with the drive. Just don’t eat a couple of meals before you plan it
Service is counter-serve and otherwise non-existent. Even the folks talking the orders behind the table seemed way too many and quite soporific.
The food quality was far below expectations — bland, poorly cooked, and overpriced. For the amount charged, I expected much better standards. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.
Pakvaan is more than just a restaurant — for me, it’s been a part of my routine and memories for years. This family-owned gem has been my go-to place for chai and snacks during relaxed evening hours, and some of my favorite past times have been spent here.
While I often indulge in their flavorful chai alongside veg sandwiches or mixed pakoras, I also try their thalis from time to time. The quality has always been consistently good — fresh, comforting, and full of flavor. There’s something about the way they prepare even the simplest snacks that makes you feel at home.
Pakvaan’s atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to catch up with friends or just enjoy a quiet evening alone. If you’re looking for authentic flavors, friendly service, and a place that treats you like family, Pakvaan is the place to be.
Samosa chaat 10/10
Rotlo 10/10
Corn Bhel Puri 10/10
Masala Tea 9/10
Loved the chaat and sandwich. Chaat and sandwich are recommended. Wont recommend desserts and it is super disappointing to even try for the portion size you get for $4. Attached the quantity of carrot halwa in a video. Try at your own risk and you don’t care to get a value for your hard earned money. Took off one star just for the disgusting portion size of dessert
Kathiyawadi thali (2/5): Subjis did not live up the expectations.. Sweet (laddoo) was not good.. Kachori was the BEST i ever had!
Daal vada (5/5): Must try this when here.. Perfect texture and taste
Sev khamani (3/5): this used to be good but this time it was just average. They should add more chutney and also pomegranate seeds.
Overall: 2.5 out of 5 experience with service and food.
