Service from Jesse at the bar was outstanding. She was hospitable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the food. We got the poutine, eggs rolls, haddock tacos, and the buffalo fried chicken burger. The breading on everything was light and crisp. The homemade chips were delicious. Looking forward to coming back again sometime to sit on the deck overlooking the river.

River Restaurant is a delightful surprise! The signage might not catch your eye, but don’t let that stop you. When the weather allows, relax on the patio overlooking the river. It’s a cozy spot serving up yummy pub-style fare. The view is peaceful, the food is satisfying. The service is friendly and down-to-earth. A dining experience that’s easy to miss but absolutely worth the stop!

We were absolutely starving and craving something healthier. We ordered grilled trout with rice and salad, alongside a pasta dish with chicken and mussels. Everything was fresh and delicious. All the portions were large.

Overall we had a great experience. Immediately greeted at the door. We were allowed to pick our table outside. We did arrive about mid afternoon prior to the dinner rush on a Friday. It was a beautiful warm day. We sat by the river outside with our dog. She was brought a bowl of water with our drinks.

I ordered the maple chipotle salmon with veggies and a side salad. The salmon was a bit over cooked and dry as well as the veggies. I do have a gluten allergy. I wonder if the sauce was omitted because of that. The garden salad had a beautiful presentation. I have certainly had some that was simply iceberg lettuce thrown in bowl with overripe tomatoes.

My husband ordered the Donair flatbread. Which he really liked. He also had a side of sweet potato fries and an IPA from Big Ax Brewing.

Extensive drink list with numerous cocktails and local beers.

I recently had dinner at The River Restaurant in Woodstock and found it to be an average experience. Upon entering, I noticed that the restaurant has two sides: to the right is a family-oriented dining area that felt very bright and lacked atmosphere, with a few dirty tables that could use some attention. On the left, the bar area had a much better vibe, making it more inviting.

The service was satisfactory, though I did have to wait quite a while for both drinks and my meal. I ordered the fish and chips, but the haddock was a bit dry, and the tartare sauce was quite bland. The prices seemed a little on the higher side for what I received.

Overall, while it wasn’t a standout dining experience, it is a decent option considering the limited choices available in Woodstock. If you’re looking for a place to eat, you might find something you enjoy here, but I’m not in a rush to return.

This little restaurant is wonderful. We sat outside on the patio close to the river.

The waitress was very nice and attentive.

The food was great. I had the seafood bowl which was lobster, shrimp and scallops in a cream sauce. It was delicious but I didn’t know it came on 3/4 bowl of mashed potatoes. I’m keto and didn’t eat the mashed potatoes. Otherwise it was delicious and is served with a light layer of cheddar cheese. I gave them 5 stars for the food (originally 4 stars) when the waitress came out and said they gave us a small discount for it not saying it was served with mashed on the menu.

My wife had the steak and gnocchi which was also delicious. The steak was tender and the gnocchi was perfectly cooked.

Our appetizer was battered Brussels sprouts bites. The coating is very light and flavorful.

Overall a great place to eat and highly recommended.

Nothing super remarkable, but good food and good service.

We came for dinner and ordered the tavern steak and grilled chicken club. We asked for the steak medium rare but it was slightly overcooked, however the seasoning was on point and we enjoyed the sauteed vegetables which tasted fresh and not frozen. The chicken club was tasty, but the chicken itself was quite small. We got caesar salads with both mains, which we liked as well.

Nice, casual local joint – you can tell many diners are regulars.
