Took my wife and son here for lunch today, and it was exactly what you hope for from a great East Coast sandwich shop.

I ordered the JD Philly with whiz, while the other two went with the GnarBQ. All three sandwiches came out fast, piping hot and fresh off the grill. The difference between this place and a fast-food chain is obvious immediately—you can see them cooking your order right in front of you, and you can absolutely taste it.

This isn’t pre-cooked, steamed meat that’s been sitting around waiting to be served. The flavors are bold, the meat is juicy, and everything tastes freshly made to order. The JD Philly hit all the right notes with rich beef and perfectly melted whiz, while the GnarBQ was delicious with its smoky, savory balance.

I enjoyed it so much I got a godfather to go. I appreciate they served it with the oil and vinegar on the side to prevent a soggy sandwich later today. The small details matter!

Quick service, fresh ingredients, and legit East Coast sandwich vibes—this spot delivers. We’ll definitely be back.

Best Phillly in SLC
We lined up with a fun crowd before the shop opened at noon. Ordered the JD Phillly Cheesesteak with provolone and added peppers. It was excellent! Great service, nice people, the food came very quick!

I would like to start off by saying I normally don’t leave reviews unless and place is really good or really bad and unfortunately it wasn’t the first one.

For this place to charge $20 it’s not worth it respectfully. I got the JD Philly Hoagie hoping it’ll be more flavorful than the normal cheesesteaks but I was let down. The meat wasn’t seasoned at all, the mayo and tomato was the star of the show and for this place to represent the “east” made it even worst. If you’ve never had seasoned or east coast food then sure this is for you. All the videos on social media must be paid to leave good reviews because man did this let me down big time. Besides the food the service, atmosphere, and workers was amazing. I was greeted As soon as I walked in and was quickly assisted and was able to order, I waited no more than 5 minutes before the cashier came out with my sandwich. Just super disappointed I spent $20 and I couldn’t let it go to waste ‍♂️ (p.s the cheese wasn’t even melted)

It’s fine.
I was hoping for the meatball, but it’s been taken off the menu.
It’s a good Philly. It’s a good Godfather.
Good–but not the best in this valley.
On top of that, spendy.
Two of the not large sandwiches and two bottles of Coke costs 50 bucks.

Ok hold on a second… stop reading and get in line NOW!!! Then read how amazing this place is!!! Hands down one of the best sandwich experiences I have had in a long time. I ordered the Go Bird’s chicken cheesesteak with Cooper Sharp cheddar and it was unreal. Perfectly cooked, rich, and balanced with real East Coast flavor. The Godfather fries were loaded, indulgent, and impossible to put down, and the cannoli was the kind that makes you pause for a second and just appreciate it.

What really sets this place apart is the heart behind it. You can taste the care and intention in the food. The staff was genuinely courteous, cool, and welcoming, not scripted, just good people who clearly take pride in what they do.

Knowing the story makes it even better. Beast From The East is built on Kris Davis’s roots in Southern New Jersey and the recipes and lessons passed down from his Italian grandmother. This is not a gimmick or a theme. It is a real tribute. Every sandwich feels like a love letter to East Coast comfort food, brought to Utah the right way.

Trust me YOU now owe me!!

Over priced, to the extreme 14$ for a half sub, idk if they are trying to be from a NY, Philly, or Boston deli but it’s not working out (add more meat babes) also I shouldn’t have to redistribute things in a east coast sub, just sayin, make it tight.

Delicious! I got the subway screamer, the turkey was juicy and fresh. I do wish there was more cilantro flavor since it said there was cilantro in it. My husband got the chopped cheese and loved every bite- he got the pepper mayo on top and he said it was a great choice.
