The family came to this restaurant for a chennai meal as we are Tamil and this was an excellent restaurant. Everything was extremely delicious and tasted like a home cooked meal. Nothing had too much salt and was drowning in butter. Wonderful flavors. We were so hungry that we didn’t take too many pictures but we ordered masala dosa, chicken 65, chilli chicken, chennai masala chai, chicken tikka masala, parotta, dosa, medhu vada, tandoori chicken wings, mango lassi, and egg kothu parotta. We are excited to come back for more. Every single dish we ordered was excellent and they had a very large menu. It’s rare to see a restaurant do well preparing this many items on their menu. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely loved this place! The food tastes just like authentic Tamil home cooking. The meals are served on its best level, and every dish — from the sambar and rasam to the poriyal — was super flavorful. The Meen pollichadu was spicy and delicious, definitely my favorite!
The staff were really friendly and went above and beyond regarding the service, made sure we had everything we needed. The place has a nice, homely vibe with Tamil music playing softly in the background.

This place makes the best Indian food on Long Island. The staff is insanely friendly and goes far out of their way to make sure you enjoy your meal and gave me recommendations that I loved and would have never known about on my own.
The chicken tikka masala was fantastic. The Kothambar Chicken Curry was something I’ve never tried before and it very very good.
Their chai was also one of the best I’ve ever day.

Taste of Chennai is, in my opinion, the best dosa and Indian food spot in Hicksville. The dosas are made with a generous amount of filling and amazing flavor. Their chai is so delicious, and the thali is fantastic too. I cannot wait to try more on menu, including the non-veg options.
The service is always warm and welcoming. They’ve even offered me a tasty cardamom dessert and a warm cup of chai on the house on multiple occasions while I waited for my takeout order, which was so thoughtful. They also asked my preferred level of sweetness for the chai.
I’m super excited that they’re relocating to a larger space. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Every dish was curated to perfection—authentic yet forward-looking, blending the flair of original Chennai flavors with a touch of Western influence. The food was not spicy at all, making it enjoyable for everyone, and even the leftovers were delicious!

A big thank you to Joseph Saladino, the Town Supervisor of Oyster Bay, for fostering a community that celebrates diversity and culinary excellence. I had been craving authentic South Indian food for a long time, and I finally found the perfect place! The Idli, Dosa, Sambhar, and Coconut Chutney were absolutely spot-on—fresh, flavorful, and comforting. We tried the Masala Dosa, Egg Set Dosa, Mini Idlis, Gobi Lasuni, Mutton Starter, and the Kotu Veg Paratha—everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Every bite took me right back home!
The only letdown was the Payasam dessert, which was a bit too sweet and milky for my taste—but everything else more than made up for it.
The speed of service was great, and the ambience was warm and inviting—perfect for a relaxed meal. Special thanks to Chef Kumar, Manager Joyti, and Raghu, who took our order and gave amazing recommendations.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience—this is now my go-to spot for South Indian food!

Incredible and authentic South Indian food. Everything from the tandoor chicken to the kottuparatha and the dosa the food was amazing. Also probably the best Badam halwa I have had in my life.
