There’s always a crowd here and with walls of bread, unique pastries, homemade dips and speciality coffees, I can see why! The toffee cinnamon pecan babka is a weekend offering so def be sure to get there to try it – it’s phenomenal. The avocado-halloumi on sourdough was crisp, tangy and delicious!! Other pastries we’ve had are the chocolate croissant (arguably better than what you’ll find in Paris), sesame halva croissant, rugelach, chocolate hazelnut cake, cheese stick (can have this warmed up) and all the cookies. The ice babka latte is always the best and you get a little chocolate cookie garnish with it. I have zero bad things to say about Liv – honestly it’s one of the best bakeries there is around…the prices are higher for certain items ($40’for a tin of 12 cookies is a bit steep) but other items are reasonable and everything is worth the experience. I would go everyday if I lived in Millburn!!!

Went there Saturday morning around 8. No many customers. It’s a bakery with a restaurant area. The service is nice and staff friendly. The menu is short, for me this is a good sign of freshness. They offer different items than the usual American breakfast places. They are closer to what I use to have in Europe. The food was good. But a little bit too expensive for what it is. $50 for 2 (2 coffee and 2 plates) is too expensive. The coffee is really good.

Like a bread kitchen. Artisan oriented definitely. Also very much set at a higher price. Pay for the show, post to sho, a branded box.

This review truly pains me to write. I used to come here weekly, sometimes even twice a week, specifically for the hummus sandwich, which was one of the only truly vegan lunch options available. So disappointed to find it’s no longer on the menu.

I’m grateful when the tomato soup is available (and love that it’s made with coconut milk), and I appreciate that oat milk is offered for coffee. But beyond that, it’s become really hard to rely on this place for lunch. Every pizza, sandwich, and most savory options now seem to include dairy or egg.

I genuinely love the staff, they’re always kind and welcoming, and the bakery sweets and breads are fantastic (sometimes good sweets are worth bending the diet for!). That’s why this is so disappointing. I want to keep supporting this business.

Please consider adding a few more non-dairy/vegan lunch options. I would happily become a regular again and spend my money here if I had something I could consistently order.

Update based on owners response*

While the food is fine, I would give 3.5 star vs its price.

I ordered a baguette. while they can bag and hand it to you bc it’s literally on the wall behind the register, instead you are given a number and now wait with a big crowd waiting for various things which would take longer time.

Price was surprising. $17 for Tuna salad sandwich and $7 for plain croissant, definitely on the very high side.

I would have rated it higher if the staff was kinder, but I didn’t experience that.

Solid 3 stars at best.

While I understand I could have been extra busy from Saturday and potential storm preparing guests, I would think there are ways to make their service faster and more efficient, which could help with operating cost. I also would have appreciated a smile from register or at pick up. But I appreciate the owner caring to respond to read and explain.

My parents came here on New Year’s Day and their experience was beyond unacceptable. Ruined their morning. They were too nice to leave a bad review but I’m not! Let’s run through it all:

1. The woman at the counter didn’t greet them or say anything, just stood there staring silently until they ordered.

2. The bill was $46.38 and my dad asked if they could use a $100 bill. They said no sorry it could be counterfeit we don’t accept big bills. He said that’s fine, I have $45 in smaller bills, can I please pay now and run next door to break up the bigger bill for the extra $1.38? (They were having a sit down meal so it wasn’t like he could run away with the food or anything). She said no, you need to pay in full, pressured him to use a credit card (which incurs extra charges) then asked him to step aside because she had to help the next customer and he’s holding up the line. He said that’s fine, went to the liquor store next door to get change (magically his money was acceptable there), came back in one second and paid in full. The server was UNBELIEVABLY RUDE throughout the entire interaction. No apologies, no thank you. My dad was nothing but nice and patient.

3. He added cheese to the $18 spinach omelette and they charged $2 extra. Ok fine. He got honey in his tea and they charged him 50¢ extra. She did not tell them she was adding extra charges to the bill by the way. The omelette came out to $20, a cup of tea was $4.50. The $20 omelette was the tiniest thing he’d ever seen and came with no side except one(!) dry piece of bread. My mom got a slice of pizza it was $12. Okay um…..

4. And the grand finale: My dad asked if he could please have butter for his sad little dry piece of bread. HE WAS TOLD BUTTER COSTS EXTRA AND HE WOULD HAVE TO GET BACK IN LINE TO ORDER AND PAY FOR IT.

We’ve been in town since the place opened, always been loyal customers even as the prices skyrocketed over the years. Their greed is shameless. Management needs to make some serious changes if they don’t want to alienate their customer base because this is just appalling. Shame on you all!!! Honestly my parents deserve an apology.

You spend $50 on cookies and they have the nerve to charge you for the box to put them in. Each cookies is $6. Liv Bakery has the nerve to tell you that they care about sustainability, and that’s the reason they charge you $2 for a box a $1 for a bag. When you have no competition it’s easy to rip people off.

We had passed by this store a few months ago and saw it had a heavy flow of customers. Today we noticed that they had expanded and added an extension for guests to dine in. In the summer they have a few tables outdoor.
There was a line to enter today as well. The line moved fairly well. They do have a QR code where you can order ahead and skip making the line.
My coffee was one of the best I have had. It was creamy and you could taste the coffee flavor. I paired it with a caprese sandwich which was also good. It tasted fresh. My son had a chocolate croissant. He has tasted many in different bakeries. He said this one was very tasty. I’ll have to try it next time to verify.

Liv breakfast is great. Croissants are great Coffee kicks ass. Cookie with the coffee kicks another ass, should a second ass become available for kicking. My only comment is to change up the spreads. seems like the same the last 4 times I’ve had it. and maybe swap put the tzatziki or the labneh foe something else, they’re too similar.

So happy to have finally ticked this place off the list to visit!

We came in early sunday but man was it busy already! I love the vibes there though despite the bustle. There’s a line but it moves fairly quick. Seating starts to fill up by 9:30am and up.

There is plenty to choose from but we went with their croissants and a few other things. The Croissants were Very Good! They are flaky buttery and I love that its not just the “airy” type of croissant. We got chocolate, almond and plain but I thoroughly enjoyed the simplicity but perfection of the plain one. We got their cheese sticks and financier to go as well. Liv also served delicious coffee with pretty latte arts!

I definitely get why this place attracts the crowd. Its a little high up there but again these pastries are delicious and fresh! A little splurging shouldnt hurt so much lol This has been an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend this place.
