OUR MISSIONBorn in El Paraíso, sisters Alda and Reina came to the United States in the early 90s and made Kentucky their home. In 2017, inspired by the love of service and culinary skills of their late mom, Monchita, they opened Mami Monchita’s, a Honduran restaurant in Frankfort, Kentucky. The restaurant’s goal was to bring Honduran cuisine to Frankfort while helping their community of El Paraíso by designating 10% of the profits of the restaurant to the work of the Greenhouses of Love Foundation a 501c3 Charity also founded by Alda and Reina. These donations have helped fund the initial projects and will continue to help further the mission of the foundation.

Staff is very friendly and will welcome you back on each visit. Lovely restaurant atmosphere always had patrons when I visited, yet was never too loud.
This is one of those places you should make a point to visit even if you’re just passing through.
Well, I finally made the trip back in Oct. 2025, and it was just as great as I remembered! Every piece of food/drink was packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. My server was kind, cheerful and attentive, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was as mouthwatering as it was 6 years ago! I’m sure I will continue to daydream about this place until I make the trip back again.
The atmosphere is welcoming and family-oriented, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The staff is warm, friendly, and always willing to explain menu items if you’re trying Honduran cuisine for the first time.
If you’re looking for something different from the usual dining options in Frankfort, this is a must-try spot. Highly recommend the pupusas and baleadas—they’re incredible!
I’ve tried only a couple items. Pictured is the Pupusas with cheese. They are bomb!! Needed a bit of salt but otherwise on point.
