Social Profile:

Welcome to one of Copenhagen’s oldest and most beautiful restaurants In 1910, Christian Krogh, as it was then spelled, saw a unique opportunity and opened a fish restaurant on Gammel Strand, just where the fishwives sold their fresh produce. He hired the best architects in the city to create the most beautiful surroundings for his great dining experience. Since then, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge at nearby Holmens Kanal and there have been a number of different individuals at the helm: Krog’s changed from being a place where local people would come to eat fish to a fine dining restaurant for the rich and even for royalty. Our famous restaurant has many stories to tell. We are proud to carry on Christian Krogh’s tradition,

Fresh local fish a& d seafood in an 18th-century house with an elegant high-ceilinged dining room.

To start with, we really appreciated both the ambience and the service. We chose the six-course menu and selected a wine from the very extensive wine list. The food was refined and delicious. However, the portions are simply too small, even for a high-end restaurant. This is not Michelin-star cuisine. In addition, the first four courses are all served in bowls and eaten with a spoon, which lacks variety. I add a picture of the “main dish” served after the 4 bowls, even this a tiny portion. The entire menu (!) contains roughly a teaspoon of carbohydrate-based sides (excluding the sourdough bread) and we left hungry. In conclusion, while the quality of the food shows clear potential, the overall experience is currently unsatisfactory and overpriced, even by Copenhagen standards.

We had dinner for my wife’s birthday and were not disappointed. The four course menu with wine pairing was a little pricey but not compared to comparable restaurants, and it was well worth it. The fish dishes were very good and the pairings matches very well. Service was attentive and informative. It’s worth looking at the website to understand a bit about its long history. We had early reservations and it filled up. You can probably get a walk-up table for lunch, but it might be difficult for dinner.

It’s another nice seafood restaurant in the city. The place looks great from the outside, the inside is even more cozy. Walking by, didn’t expect to be in a fine dining kind of place. There was no disappointment whatsoever. The 4-course meal without wine pairing was good enough to satisfy the meal.

Krogs has lovely al fresco dining in the heart of Copenhagen’s main sightseeing district, near the canals and city square. The portions are generous small and pricey (a scallop appetizer is truly a single scallop, albeit beautifully presented), but the food is quite fresh and well prepared. Smoking is allowed n the furthest row of seating, which can be a bit off-putting to diners, but overall it’s still a worthwhile dining experience.

The bouillabaisse was excellent—rich in umami and bursting with flavor. The oysters were fresh, and the sourdough, delicious with the butter. Unfortunately, I found the soup and fish to be overly salty for my taste. The service, though, was exceptional; they promptly remade the dish without hesitation. The fish and chips made of two fried oysters and lots of tartar sauce, didn’t really get it. The dessert average and didn’t stand out much.

Atmosphere elegant and pleasant.

When we were asked to sit outdoors or inside the restaurant, we decided to go indoors. It was a beautiful restaurant with fine decorations! The food was great and the service was good. Will come again if I returned to this city.

I don’t know why it has 4.4 stars herein. But there are a few problems with the menu and staff service with this restaurant.

If you want seafood, you need to pre-order when booking, but no one mention that or in the website.

Set menu, starter with cod, main dishes is also cod, very rare for a fine dinning set.

The starter, main course, desert use similar ingredients and food, what’s the chef in mind ?

Desert is strange, salty cream with sweet cream

Delicious raw seafood. Well selected and fresh. Very satisfied.
My mistake was that I again ordered Mussels (second time during my stay in Copenhagen) which as not good. December is not a season for mussels.
Our waitress was very nice after we where sited, however when we first entered to restaurant we were 4-5 minutes waiting till someone will welcome us. You are watching how they are serving other customers, moving things from one place to other during which not even looking at you and you are just standing there. This behavior was not only towards us, it was towards everyone who entered to restaurant. My personal opinion – not nice! Some kind of arrogance…
Overall when counting pluses and minuses – good experience

Understood this is a well-rated restaurant serving fine cuisine but I think it’s somewhat overrated.
The service staffs have shown poker face at all times.
Oysters are ok.
We ordered a “fish and chips” (no photo was taken) but finally were served two pieces of deep fried oysters, which were tasteless at all, very disappointing. The description is somewhat misleading.
The fish stew’s soup taste well but the portion is too tiny.
We spent around DKK1000 and left with disappointment. Maybe I didn’t order the best food from the restaurant.
