We are true born and raised Mainer’s. Love the area but not this stop. Decor was pretty cool. Old cars and license plates. We had option to sit outside. Outside was literally a closed off section outside of main dinner. No ventilation and covered in. Very disappointing. Not my idea of “ outside “. Service was good however food not so much. We ordered spinach dip that was a special for an app. It was literally like out of a jar. Seriously. I ordered the pick two seafood dinner. The haddock would have not even filled a roll for a haddock sandwich. The scallops were seriously 2 cut into quarters! Paid almost 30.00 dollars! The fries were literally what you would find in any grocery store. My husband had the imperial dinner. Very little for the price. See picture. He did like the taste. Positives: plenty of parking. It appears the “ outside “ dining had removable plexiglass that they may have not got to yet. So very stuffy. No background music at all. Nothing! For me I don’t like to hear people chewing and having conversations about what they had for breakfast next to me. But that’s me. Not my thing. The positive other than parking was the service. Food is okay in a pinch. Maybe for a lunch. ABSOLUTELY not for an end of day meal!!

OMG!!! If you are with in 100 miles this is the greatest place we have eaten yet! If you’re looking for fine dining don’t go. If you want great food, great service and a diner atmosphere this is it! From the genuine greeting from the moment we walked in the door and Laura our waitress was excellent! The prices were the best we saw anywhere.
The deserts are all made in house from scratch and AMAZING!!!

Went for some seafood and was extremely concerned over what I got. Ordered the stuffed haddock. Expecting seafood stuffing on top but received a rolled piece of haddock with mushy mush inside. Any New Englander knows fresh haddock and this was not. Also the Salmon looked like a toaster pastry. I would go elsewhere and spend your money. This place needs an overhaul from chef Ramsey.

Wife and I traveled from MI. In our travels up the east coast,we’ve had some great food with great people and atmosphere. This place lacked all of it. Normally we share pics of our food and staff. Lobster was good. My wife who doesn’t like seafood had pasta. Rarely saw our waitress. Had a table FUUL of dirty plates due to not being removed throughout dinner. Would NOT recommend.

We arrived around 5 P.M. on a Tuesday for dinner. We easily found a place to park. There was a short wait to be seated, as was to be expected. Our server was at our table in a short amount of time to greet us and take our drink orders. There is a nice selection of mixed drinks, bottle beer, local draft beers, and Maine wines available.
My wife ordered the Maine Lobster Bloody Mary, and I had a Samuel Adams Boston Lager. The Maine Lobster Bloody Mary is made with a dash of lobster juice and includes an actual lobster claw as a garnish. My wife loved it. I was obligated to have a taste of it for an accurate review and found it to be a little light on the vodka, but it was delicious. The Sam Adams was served in a traditional beer glass and was adequately cold.
We ordered Fried Olives and the Onion Rings as appetizers. The fried green olives stuffed with pimento were excellent with just the right amount of batter. The onion rings are cut thin and are fresh and delicious.
My wife ordered Lobster and Steamed Clams. The lobster looked to be between 1.25 and 1.5 pounds, and the steamed clams were a good size.
I ordered Seafood Fettuccine, which is served with a salad, your choice of dressing, and two fresh baked bread sticks. The Seafood Fettuccine is made with lobster, shrimp, haddock, and scallops served in a white sauce.
My wife was very happy with the lobster. She said it was a bit on the dry side but not enough to detract from her enjoying it. The clams were perfect. The Seafood Fettuccine had plenty of seafood and just the right amount of sauce. We both thoroughly enjoyed our selections.
We opted to have coffee and dessert to finish off our experience. The coffee was hot, fresh, and really good. My wife had Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting, and I had the classic, warm Maine Blueberry Pie with a scoop of Ice Cream. The cake was a huge wedge and moist with delicious frosting. The pie was exceptional. A large slice with perfect crust and a hint of nutmeg.
Ruth and Wimpy’s has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The servers are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The restrooms are clean and in a good location. The entire restaurant is clean and well decorated. There is plenty to look at both inside and outside.
I recommend Ruth and Wimpy’s to anyone looking for a true Maine dining experience. This is not a tourist trap! This is real Downeast Maine food, in a real Downeast Maine setting, served by real Downeast Maine people. I highly recommend and will be back again and again.

Stopped here on the way from Bar Harbor to Schoodic Peninsula. Was on the hunt for good lobster at a decent price. This was the place. Nice mom and pop place not flashy.
Spent about $75 for a while lobster w/ 2 sides, my husband got a lobster combo, and a small kids meal.

Laura provided excellent service.

Lobster and corn dinner fir $19.95 was Great price, but one if the two meals were overcooked.

coconut cream pie was okay.

total cost for shrimp appetizer, 2 whole lobster meals, desert, and beverages was very affordable (<$80.00) ~ probably worth checking out and hoping your meal is prepared correctly.

Great food and great prices. We had lobster tail, fried clam, broiled haddock, onion rings, and jalapeño poppers. All of the food was excellent. I loved the blueberry sauce with the poppers and the seasoned fries were nice and crispy!
Rustic and charming diner-like atmosphere with fun decor.

We took our time trying to figure out where to get the best lobster roll this area of Maine had to offer. Noticed the parking lot of this establishment was always packed.
While they were out of blueberry pie the day we hit it, they did give us a lobster roll experience!
The side of coleslaw was overpriced (1.25) for its size (approx 2 tablespoons) and had no vinegar flavor, but the fries were hot and crispy fresh. The lobster roll was served cold, mixed in Mayo with a pickle spear on the side.
For being understaffed, we were served swiftly and the food had typical causal roadside diner presentation.
It was my first lobster roll experience so I can’t compare. But I feel like I was given a quality experience despite the fact I was unsure of the flavor. Was it mayonnaise I didn’t like? Or was the lobster boiled in tarragon? It was a new flavor that the coleslaw also held so I’ll blame the Mayo being a Mayo I didn’t care for. The Lobster roll meal was $22/plate compared to the $36-$40+ market prices we noticed on menus around Bar Harbor.

We were looking for local seafood and took our airbnb host’s recommendation. Disappointed. Didn’t have the Blueberry beer we came in for and the cocktail was average. Ordered twin lobster tails to share with Mac n cheese and salad. Salad was average, Mac was out of a box and the tails were chewy. Ordered the favorite Blueberry pie ala mode and it was oversweet like pie filling from a can. Very disappointed. Food came all at once and dishes were not removed promptly. Had to ask for dessert and for our ticket. Drinks were not charged, but since she had told someone it was her 7th day, we told her. No pen for the credit card charge. Extra work for a non- extraordinary experience. Not worth the cost and won’t be back.
