My recent visit to Terramia Ristorante was absolutely delightful — a standout Italian dining experience that lives up to its excellent reputation. Nestled in Boston’s historic North End, this charming trattoria strikes the perfect balance between cozy and elegant, making it ideal for date nights, family dinners, or special occasions.
From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere and attentive service set the tone for a memorable meal. The staff were genuinely friendly and knowledgeable, offering suggestions and making sure we felt well taken care of throughout the evening.
The menu boasts a creative take on Italian classics with an emphasis on fresh, flavorful ingredients. Whether you’re a traditionalist or looking for something a bit more inventive, there’s something to love here. Even better, the wine list complements the food beautifully, with thoughtful pairings that enhance each dish.
Yes, the space is intimate and fills up quickly (reservations are recommended), but that only adds to the cozy, bustling charm. All in all, Terramia delivers authentic Italian flavors, welcoming service, and a dining experience that keeps you coming back.

Serving traditional Italian dishes with a modern flare, Terramia sits on a North End side street that’s appreciably less trafficked than Hanover Street. Upon walking in my wife and I were greeted by the pungent scents of garlic and olive oil-sautéed Mediterranean spices as we were shown our table in the small and intimate dining space. Even with my wife’s gluten-free proclivity and my plant-based, we still had options from which to choose and our well-informed server was able to point them out and offer suggestions. After ordering, I was brought a delicious house-made roll and dipping bowl of white bean mash and olive oil that I sopped up and devoured with relish. The soup of the day, a fresh tasting, tangy tomato soup with robust notes of basil, was delicious and thankfully served nice and hot on this cold November evening. For a main course I had the vegetable ravioli—a finely blended vegetable paste wrapped up in al dente pasta and blanketed with a simple tomato sauce that allowed the vegetables to take center stage. For sides we had the broccoli rabe—a vibrantly green dish whose subtle bitterness the chef boldly let shine through rather than attempt to cover up with additional flavors—and the roasted potatoes, which provided a complimentary tuberous sweetness to the broccoli. My wife said her GF penne in bolognese sauce was the best she’d ever had. The plant based strawberry gelato I had for dessert tasted like fresh strawberries and my wife loved her flourless chocolate cake. Just be prepared to stop afterwards at a local café, as the restaurant doesn’t serve coffee. A delightful dinner in an equally delightful setting; we would definitely return.

This is a great place for vegetarians and vegans. You even have eggless pasta options. We got what we ordered even with a lot of customizations. I particularly liked the roasted potato and ravioli alla amatriciana without pancetta. The sauce on this particular ravioli was creamy and loved it. The food is slightly on the pricer side and it’s a very small space. We were a party of 7 and they did a great job. But if you have kids or pets, it might be challenging.

Absolutely amazing! The depth of the flavor was the best part and some of the best I’ve had in the North End. The bread came chilled, I wish it was warmer, we loved every dish. Arancini were so tender. Staff was very nice.

Loved everything about it. Friendly, laid back service where I felt like a guest at a family place. Sat outside on a great little patio perfect on a nice night, a camber Salem street made it enjoyable compared to the hectic scene one block over on Hanover.
Nice wine list and the food was excellent. Starting with the oil and bean dip for the bread, through a great “open faced ravioli” with fresh shrimp and scallops on a house made pasta sheet. Dessert was extraordinary. Will be back!

Incredibly rude service. Cold bread. Want a blob a mozzarella? Come here. Good sauce for chicken Marsala but the other items on the plate- gross. Thanks for the “recovery”dessert. We didn’t eat it and you charged us for the entire meal that we didn’t like. Maybe try being kind to your guests and if they are not enjoying their meal maybe ask them within the first five minutes not the last 30. Sad since this was our last night in Boston. Worst service and food. Go to Legal Seafood- they will take care of you and the food is amazing.

Terramia goes above and beyond every single time. As someone whos vegan, I’m always blown away by how accommodating they are—and not just with one option, but with so many incredible choices. The food is unreal, the staff is genuinely amazing, and the overall experience is unmatched.
My boyfriend and I went a few weeks ago and are still raving about the food—especially their red sauce, which is to die for. We happened to be back in the area and stopped in just to ask if it was possible to buy some of the sauce. The manager, Gabriel, not only accommodated us but gave it to us on the house. That level of kindness and hospitality is so rare.
I honestly cannot say enough amazing things about this place. It’s hands-down my absolute favorite and I recommend it to everyone. If you haven’t been to Terramia yet, you are seriously missing out.

Ample vegan options and staff are knowledgeable (even the wines are labelled vegan!) Cozy, warm, romantic ambiance, filled with professional and friendly people. We were rushed out of our table as soon as we had eaten and paid so just beware of that. Otherwise recommend!
