We came to this restaurant in Philadelphia Chinatown because we were craving something warm and comforting, and this place exceeded our expectations in every way!

We ordered the satay beef noodle soup, the Vietnamese sour & spicy fish soup, and a BBQ pork chop on the side — thinking it would be a light meal. We were so wrong! The portions were absolutely massive — especially the pork chop. In New York, the same serving could easily be split into two (maybe even three!) portions.

Most importantly, everything tasted fantastic. The satay noodle soup was incredibly flavorful with spices I hadn’t tried before — a very pleasant surprise. The sour & spicy fish soup was refreshing and delicious; I personally would’ve liked it a bit more sour, but still very enjoyable.

The pork chops were the star — juicy, well-seasoned, and grilled perfectly. We couldn’t stop eating even though the portion was huge!

The owner was also very friendly, which made the experience even better.
We will definitely come back the next time we’re in Philly!

Highly recommend!

Best Thai restaurant in the area. Very long wait but totally worth it. You know the food is amazing when everyone is coming here. Very fresh and delicious. High quality and tasty, great prices. Highly recommend.

Best Pad Thai anywhere! Pho Xe Lua has been consistently serving the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had, for years, and everyone I’ve taken there has agreed. This humble little place, at 907 Race St in Philly, has ruined Pad Thai for me anywhere else, so be warned. Very reasonable prices.

This place used to be the spot!!! Best pho in Chinatown until recently.

Last time I went (about a month ago) the noodles were very broken and sad. My friend’s pho was the same. Broth was still excellent though.

Favorite place to go for a reasonably priced meal. Standouts dishes are the pho, bun rieu and the pork chops over rice. Tried the cheese wontons recently, also great.

I came here with my 10-year-old, who is a tough critic, and he rated the food 10/10! Everything was delicious. The staff were very kind and attentive. We live far, but it’s absolutely worth the drive. We’ll definitely be back! I was also battling a cold and that pho cleared me right up!!!

The Pho was delicious the portions are huge – we struggled to finish our meal. Service was nice… A bit slow but I guess they were full and busy that day! It’s a smallish place and a bit crowded to sit but that’s how most delicious Pho places are! Would definitely go back.
There is a paid parking lot just next to this place so parking was relatively easy.

Very good Pho and terrific service. Located conveniently in Chinatown and in easy walking distance to many other places in downtown Philly. Street parking is iffy at best, but it is well worth the effort.
