Really amazing place! The staff is fantastic and very dedicated to your satisfaction. The food is outstanding. The atmosphere is amazing. And no joke, the coldest beer I’ve EVER had. Im not quite sure how it wasn’t frozen. I’m not a super drinker, so “cold” is important, because the Corona are few and far between. But I will have another one when I go back… and we will go back and most absolutely definitely and highly recommend!

The salsa was very good! Just the right amount of spices and heat. I had the nachos and they were delicious but thoseare definitely a shareable meal! Way too much for one person! The server was very friendly and didnt mix up our order but the speed of service wasn’t that good. She was not very attentive to our table. The place wasn’t that busy so I felt we could have had better service. I will go back because the food was really good!

Great low-key Spanish restaurant. Parking’s right next to the door and also behind the building, the inside has the typical Spanish decor/seating/music, it’s clean as well as air conditioned in here. Our server Dennis was awesome. He was attentive and explained their specials to us while also making us aware that there’re booth seats in both the family part of the restaurant as well as the bar side and they try to accommodate you although there was only two people in our party today they were fine with us sitting where we wanted to. As far as the food, I’m attaching pictures but that beef chimichanga clasicó (green plate in pics) was worth coming back for! My uncle had the beef enchilada, pork tamale and beef burrito he said they were okay however I took a star for the rice and beans just being kind of just everyday okay nothing to write home about.

We had a good experience here! I really enjoyed the tacos. My friends really liked what they got as well. The staff was nice and helpful.

We visited Don Jose’s as part of Savor Fort Wayne, and unfortunately, it was everything but savorable.
To start on a positive note, the staff was pleasant and welcoming, and we were seated quickly. Chips and salsa arrived promptly—but that’s where things took a sharp turn. The salsa was disappointingly bland, more like tomato paste than anything resembling fresh Mexican salsa. No bite, no brightness, no cilantro or pepper flavor to speak of.
Despite the restaurant being only lightly occupied, the service was extremely slow, which only added to the frustration. When the food finally arrived, it lacked seasoning across the board. When we go to a Mexican restaurant, we expect bold flavors, warmth from peppers, and freshness from herbs. None of that was present here. Everything tasted muted and flat.
We ended the meal with plenty of leftovers, and my wife summed it up perfectly when she asked, “Why are we even taking this home?” The honest answer was—we shouldn’t have.
Savor Fort Wayne is meant to highlight the best a restaurant has to offer, and sadly, this experience missed the mark entirely.

This place rules! I’m from Southern California, where good Mexican food is a way of life. This place had great food, fantastic service, fantastic atmosphere and the employees are super helpful and nice. Efran, the manager will sit and chat with your party, just to make sure everyone is comfortable and having a good time. It’s a legit family atmosphere and if it’s your birthday, you get a hilarious sombrero and they sing a fun song. It’s way better than. Regular awkward restaurant birthday songs. Anyway, I love this place, you should try it.

Stopped in at Don Jose. First the service was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and on point the whole service. We started out with the Birria nachos as an appetizer. The dish was flavorful and could easily have feed 4. The chicken chimichanga was well done and fulling. I was surprised as the dish did not look like the portion was huge but it was fulling. The chicken Poblano was excellent for me. The chicken was well done and a little dry but the cheese sauce made up for it. They offered corn or flour tortillas with it. I chose corn and for me that was a mistake as I used the tortilla more like a bread with the dish. All in all it was a very good experience.

This was my first time eating here. The food was amazing! It had good flavor. The rice was great. I am picky on Spanish rice because I make mine homemade and my family’s is the best! But this was really good. The salsa was great as well. I got the arroz con pollo and I added fajita veggies and extra queso. It was really good. The refried beans are good too. My boyfriend got the chimichanga supremo. It was huge. We really enjoyed our food. You should try it. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. He also told us the owner owns 2 Mexican stores there in Ft Wayne as well. Coming from Mexican families, we both enjoyed the food and will also visit the stores for our needs for Mexican spices and foods that you can’t get from regular grocery stores.

Dennis was our server and he did an excellent job. They have great lunch special prices. The queso with chorizo was excellent! Highly recommend. Worth the drive from the north side of town.

We went in thinking it was gonna be great!! Ordered drinks, I ordered a screwdriver, tasted like watered down orange juice. My husband ordered a margarita it was very very weak. So he ordered another and said he wanted it stronger, didn’t make it stronger. Husbands food was pretty good he said. I ordered the grilled chicken-breast on Spanish rice covered in queso cheese, not even warm, tasted like chicken was cooked and sat for awhile. We won’t eat there again.
