One of the best outdoor lunches you can get with a view and walk in to history. The Reuben and burger were great as well as the fried avocado. Located in the Grove Park Inn. Before you get here read about the historic hotel and then take a short walk to work and look at the pictures on the walls as well as the famous fireplace and elevator. Great experience not just food but the atmosphere.

Made my solo reservation for 6:30, right at the beginning of sunset. My table was fine, but the actual sunset wasn’t really visible, which was fine. I’ve seen sunsets before. The shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains against the sky were still beautiful. I ordered a non-alcoholic spiced pomegranate mule..very good, only $10. Appetizer, fried green tomatoes. Waayyy too sweet, try something else. I got the chicken and honestly, it was not something I’d ever order again. The brussel sprouts were flavorless and way overcooked, practically burnt. The chicken was overcooked and underwhelming. Big glops of some kind of cheese, a strange sauce, and a big piece of thick, floppy skin, not crispy like you might expect with roast chicken. The mashed potatoes were very good. They give you a nondescript roll with some yummy butter. I had the mocha caramel mousse dome for dessert. It was delicious. Service was very good, and I had lovely people sitting next to me on either side.

Even as a resident of Asheville there’s something magical about dining on the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn.
We shared a birthday celebration lunch on the afternoon of September 25th and were not only amazed by the incredible views of downtown and the delightful offerings from the kitchen, we were dazzled by the level and friendliness of the service we received.
Our server Dani was cordial, courteous, and met us at our fun loving level. Pleasant, kind, and incredibly pleasant, Dani took a meal that would have already been a 5 star experience to something that will be forever forged in our memories as a perfect birthday celebration.
If you feel like great service is hard to come by for any reason, I would highly recommend heading to the Sunset Terrace and allowing Dani to treat you to an absolutely incredible time.

I had a wonderful time here, everything was perfect from start to finish. Our server, Tim, was absolutely fantastic and made sure we were well taken care of the whole night.
The Filet Mignon was the highlight, cooked perfectly and paired with amazing sauces. Honestly, best steak I’ve had this year. Even the bread with whipped honey mustard stood out and was so memorable!
Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food, a great atmosphere, and outstanding service. Can’t wait to come back!

The sunset terrace is such a beautiful spot to enjoy a meal and/or drink.
My wife and I went for dessert and drinks and had such a lovely time. I had the coconut cloud with a non-alcoholic basil peach limeade.
There are other wonderful cocktail, wine, beer and non-alcoholic options as well.
The dessert was light and refreshing, as well as delicious.
And you really can’t bear the view. Try and book a time about half an hour before sunset if you want to catch the golden hour vibes. Also, as a table for two, we were right beside the overlook, which was very nice.
All the food and dishes that were at other tables looked and smelled amazing as well.
Such a lovely way to end a day exploring Asheville.

Limited vegetarian options, no vegan options in a gorgeous porch setting. Our server was personable and excellent. Lovely date spot if you and your date enjoy traditional American fare. Delicious cocktails and mocktails.

Very good variety of Prime Meat Cuts. Also has seafood plates. We’re seated quickly without reservation. Such an amazing view of downtown ashville and the mountains all around. Service is amazing . Sarah helped us take pictures and let us know all about the menu. For starters we ordered chilled shellfish platter for two. It came with 6 snowcrab claws, 4 oysters, 1 big lobster tail and 4 decent sized cocktail shrimp. All the meat was nice and soft. It came with an assortment of 4 sauces. Butter sauce for lobster tail and crab, cocktail sauce for the shrimp, vinegar sauce for oysters, and a creamy yogurt sauce for all around everything. We also ordered the field green salad which was super good . For the entres we got the chailen sea bass with the chimichuri sauce. It had a nice buttery flavor and was very light in your mouth, the chimichuri gives it a nice fresh citrus flavor. We also got the 8oz Center-Cut Filet. This i shared with my sister and we really ate everything family style trying each other’s dishes. The filet really melts into your mouth and is perfectly seasoned. The last entre that we ordered was the 22oz Bone-In Ribeye. This was such an amazing peice of steak. It was very well seasoned with 2 sauces, one a creamy mayonnaise base sauce and a very fancy a1 steak sauce thaf tasted 500x better. The 22oz steak is a really great share size. If you wanted to split this steak it would work. For sides we order the Gouda Mac & Cheese, the Brussels sprouts, and the whipped potatoes. The Gouda Mac was super rich and creamy. The Brussel Sprouts were so tasty. They had a soy reduction and tasted like teriyaki almost. The whipped potatoes were literal clouds with a buttery taste. To finish off this fabulous dinner we ordered the strawberry hibiscus cheesecake for dessert. It was a nice rich strawberry flavor with a candied hibiscus flower on top. We had the most wonderful time at Sunset Terrace to celebrate our anniversary! The staff were so friendly and helpful. They were able to customize my drink order and help me make food and wine selections. The view is obviously amazing and I was very happy we were able to sit in the perfect spot overlooking the terrace. Our entrees included the gnocchi and the chicken, both which were AMAZING. We ordered the cheesecake for dessert which was the right choice. Overall, I am happy we chose Sunset Terrace as our dinner spot during our short time in Asheville. Thank you to everyone for making our time there special.
