I think there’s been a change of ownership since my last visit. The restaurant is spotless and appears to have embraced the “If you have time to lean, you have time to clean” mantra. Give it another try if you frequent the Chipotle across the street. The food is just as fresh and delicious and it just feels good to support an establishment that is trying to make a comeback.

We love this location! The service, food and atmosphere are always exceptional. Tonight we were greeted warmly by Victor. He and his coworker were prompt, courteous and extremely helpful. The moment they finished taking and serving orders, they were checking on guests and making sure everything was stocked and clean. My burrito was the best I’ve ever tasted. We always make a special trip to this Baja Fresh when we are in the area. Keep up the great service!

Food was really good. Could’ve had more meat in the orders that had it. But was great food. The floor didn’t seem like they had swept it in awhile. Bathrooms have codes only open to customers. Sauces were great. Awesome serving size portions.

Baja Fresh is a perfectly good example of Mexican food. It has the right flavors, good touches of food preparation like toasted tortillas, and reasonable prices.
It isn’t authentic, though. Most of the flavors come from handed down recipes of spices and flavors that can’t really be replicated by a revolving kitchen. Dedication matters in terms of those flavors. And the reason Baja Fresh doesn’t do as well as it could is that it’s usually based in places with access to real authentic cuisine, when places in the Midwest consider sour cream the primary ingredient after a tortilla.
The worst offender is the salsa bar. It’s free and the chips are spendy but the actual quality of the salsa is not high. Under seasoned, clashing flavors, it used to have a higher quality, in general, but it’s free salsa. There’s like 6 of them that are continuously made. It’s hard to keep that kind of standard in a chain.
The atmosphere is honestly the only true point of failure. It’s more bland than the salsa. It’s inoffensive but is almost offensive by how safe it is.
It’s good food at a fair price. Grab some Tapitio and use it liberally and you will have a semblance of real authentic Mexican cuisine.

Ordered online for pick up. They were working on my order when I arrived. I got some little cups of salsa to take home. The salsa selection is good, very tasty. When I was finished they were finished. Workers were friendly and efficient. In and out in less than five minutes.

Excellent burritos. If you’re tired of skimpy ones from the other chains try Baja. The sauce bar just adds even more flavor. Staff was friendly, clean store, and always pretty quick to get my food. Will definitely be back.

I had a crazy idea to have a catered dinner for 25+ people to celebrate my husband’s birthday at our family reunion, camping at the lake in Cottage Grove – and they made it happen! They were even able to accommodate for vegan and gluten free. It was so good we want to make it a camping tradition.
