Mullaney’s Harp & Fiddle Irish Pub

Social Profile:

Mullaney’s Harp and Fiddle was opened on February 5th, 1992. It was founded by three young entrepreneurs Anne Mullaney, Brian Mullaney and Sean Patrick Murphy. They believed Pittsburgh deserved an authentic Irish pub with great food, drinks, music and craic. They wanted their pub to be a place to meet with friends, colleagues and clients to enjoy a pint and listen to great music. The pub was Anne’s pride and joy, and she enjoyed every night of fun there until she passed away in 2011. She is missed every day, especially by her husband, Mo.

Quaint Irish pub with an ample whiskey selection plus a varied menu of grub & occasional live music.

Although it’s Irish food, it was still pretty bland, for example, the malt and salt fries still need more salt and more malt vinegar But we had great service. Great place to watch college football or stop in for a bite to eat while you’re shopping in the strip district

The first time here. Very friendly service with great selection of different beers and a cocktail menu. The appetizers we had were pretzels and Ruben bites. What is unique about this place is they have different beer menus with a Guinness beer. Several different combinations with Guinness and other beers. The fish and chips are outstanding and reminding me of being in Ireland. Definitely highly recommend coming here. Just like Arnold said “we’ll be back”.

Was looking for a place to grab a quick drink and bite to eat in the Strip District that was dog friendly and I sure found a gem. Delicious pub food with an obligatory Guinness. My bartender/server was super friendly and checked on me often when I was alone out back. I only briefly saw the inside and it looked like a great local pub.

We always look for the Irish pub wherever we go. This place doesn’t disappoint! Friendly atmosphere and good craic! Service was great and we were greeted like old friends, just what you expect from an Irish pub. Food was also really good. Decided on a steak salad and it’s the first time I’ve had fries in my salad. Surprised at how good it was. I would definitely order it again. Hubby enjoyed a local beer and a Powers. If I lived in the area this would become a “go to” place.

Sat at the bar and enjoyed the service and music. We had a black and tan poured with the southern tier coffee ale that was next level good. Bartender was fantastic and helped the increasingly intoxicated young man next to us not make more bad decisions… at least in that bar. Can’t wait to go back and try the food.

Had a Guinness and the bangers and mash. Great local Irish pub that even had live music Friday night for free.

Food was very good, for bar food. I loved the Irish atmosphere. Glad to know Pittsburgh has a good Irish pub. BTW, our server, Teena, was very good. I had the Shepard’s Pie. Loved the fact that not everything was deep fried.

Have been going to the Harp and Fiddle since it opened, we LOVED IT. We are not regulars but truly enjoy going to have a great evening celebrating our Irish heritage. We went with a big group to celebrate our daughters 21st bday and were told to be quiet or leave. We were not standing on tables, singing, yelling or walking around the establishment being rowdy. We were enjoying our night around the bar, spending a lot of money and were told to quiet down because people at the tables could not hear the live music. I get it, music in an Irish bar is fantastic and appreciated, however, if you want a quiet night on a Saturday evening listening to music, an Irish Pub is not the place to be. Most of the bartenders were pleasant but the one that told us to leave was miserable and rude. I probably wont be back anytime soon and surely wont go there to have a great time. Maybe Ill bring my blanket and picnic basket next time to have a relaxing quiet Saturday night. Give me a break. New owners must not have known what they were getting into.

This was my first time here. I travel a fair bit on business, and have a long history of rating pubs and restaurants. I found the place charming, welcoming, and authentic. The service was prompt a d friendly, and my server, Ashley, did an outstanding job. [She should get special mention, here, for being a rare mix of professional conduct and making a guest feel at ease.]

The food was exactly what I hoped for, and I appreciated that they had Smithwick’s on draft. The music was tasteful and not cranked up. They seem to hold to the older (and correct) idea that the music is meant for the customer, not for the entertainment of the employees.

I heard a little colourful language from the bartender, which I would recommend dialing back a bit for the sake of mixed company. But the gent’s room was as clean as a whistle (like the old Irish Spring commercials).

I ardently disagree with the dismal review left by LawSchoolDropout (that name says something), and I urge people to read mine many other reviews, noting that I do not always give five star ratings. My choice to leave one this time for Mullaney’s Harp & Fiddle will, I hope, communicate a very positive experience, and thus vastly outweigh the influence of one surly reviewer.

To the staff and owners there…Sláinte! And Merry Christmas.

Nicely done…

Heard some bad things about this place but decided to give it a try anyway. Bad decision ! The staff was rude and moved as slow as Turtles. Tables were greasy and unclean with crumbs. Food was mediocre at best (mine was cold) Management seemed to be focused on watching youtube at the bar while the staff joked around and vaped. Left hungry so decided to walk across the street and grab a chicken parm sandwich from D&E Pizza
