The energy here is infectious! The dining room is beautiful, with great options spanning the indoor space, the lovely outdoor patio, and the unique second-floor seating. Be aware that the noise level is loud—this is a bustling, high-energy spot that makes for an exciting night out.
The food was uniformly excellent. We were especially blown away by the appetizers: the Grilled Caesar Salad is a revelation, adding a smoky, charred depth to the classic, and the Squash Blossoms are perfectly prepared and absolutely divine. For mains, the Steak was cooked to perfection, and the Hamachi Crudo was delicate and zesty. They also have a fantastic drink selection, like the refreshing cocktail and the classic Peroni Nastro Azzurro beer. We ended the meal with a flawless slice of Tiramisu.
Practical Tip: Given its popularity, reservations are essential. We appreciated the ease of the valet parking. Casalena is a top-tier choice for a memorable, dynamic, and delicious meal in the Valley!
From the moment we arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation the hostess was incredibly accommodating and seated us right away, which was a great start to the evening.
Our server was friendly, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and insights into the flavors of each dish. The Mediterranean margarita I ordered was fantastic refreshing and perfectly balanced.
The food itself was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The only hiccup was that the restaurant was quite busy, so we had to ask for water a few times and experienced a bit of a wait between courses. That said, the overall vibe and quality of the food and drinks more than made up for it.
Definitely looking forward to coming back again soon!
Upon arrival, there was valet (we paid a $7 valet parking fee) and were promptly seated at our reserved table. However, the table felt a bit cramped for our party of four. When we requested a change, the staff quickly accommodated us with a more spacious and comfortable table, which we appreciated.
Our waiter, however, seemed slightly aloof, lacking the warmth and enthusiasm we’ve experienced at places like The Cheesecake Factory, where staff often engage more actively with guests and explain the menu. This was a minor hiccup but didn’t detract significantly from the experience.
The food was the true highlight. Every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection—full marks to the culinary team! The menu offered a delightful variety, and each bite showcased the restaurant’s commitment to quality.
Overall, Casalena is a gem worth visiting. The breathtaking decor, scenic valley views, and exceptional food make it a standout destination. I’d happily return for another unforgettable meal.
After searching the web for a good restaurant, I landed on Casaléna. It was a pleasant discovery! The place is beautiful and gives you clean, classy and elevated casual vibes, though a lot of folks, including us, were dressed up. It’s listed as Mediterranean, but I get American and Italian farm to table all rolled up in one.
Being first timers, we asked our server (Charlie) to give us the run down on the menu and recommendations. With his help, we made our choices.
For cocktails we went with the Maple Old Fashioned and a Golden Sour. For starters, we shared the Charred Octopus and the Grilled Cesar Salad. For the entrée, my wife had the Butterflied Whole Branzino, paired with a glass of Terras Gauda, Albariño. I ordered the Short Rib paired with a glass of The Walking Fool Red Blend by Caymus. and we ordered a side of Broccolini,
Literally, EVERYTHING was excellent! One of the favorites was the Charred Octopus. It was cooked to perfection. The service was great, the food came out quick and hot.
I recommend you give this place a try.
Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, and great service! We had dinner at Casaléna and everything from start to finish was excellent. The pizza was perfectly baked with a light, crispy crust and amazing flavor. The cocktails were refreshing and beautifully presented? ideal for a beautiful evening out. And the desserts were a highlight , rich chocolate cake, warm pastry, and an icecream/gelato that tasted homemade. The ambiance is elegant yet relaxed, with soft lighting and a lively but comfortable vibe.
Definitely a must-visit spot in Woodland Hills for a nice dinner or special night out.
Food was tasty and perfectly cooked, and service was fast and attentive.
Definitely worth the discovery.
The Margherita pizza came out first. It was okay, nothing special at all. I’ve had much better versions elsewhere. The fig & beet salad was a big letdown – the portion was quite small which didn’t justify the price or my expectations of a salad! Literally 1 beet and maybe half a fig is perhaps all that was on the plate. And the taste was mid. The tuna rice cake was over-fried, making the rice hard and difficult to bite into. Overall, the food and experience felt pretty underwhelming.
As for the ambiance, we were seated in the hall to the left of the entrance, which was extremely noisy. It was difficult to hear the person sitting across from me, which made conversation a bit frustrating.
Service-wise, our server was kind and attentive, but the front staff we interacted with on our way out were not particularly polite or welcoming which added to our disappointment.
