Great spot in town for a drink and snack during Happy Hour.

Spotted this new Ramen place opening downtown and decided to go in during lunch, which is around happy hour that they have., which included a good discount on all appetizers. We ordered the calamari, fried oyster, fried chicken, and pork bun, along with their ramens.

Calamari and fried oyster were crunchy, and the oysters especially were plump/meaty. The fried chicken was hot and juicy with a slight crunch, they go well with a cold beer! The pork bun on the other hand needs some works when it comes to the cut of pork they use and the pork was very thin so we couldn’t really taste much of it.

The Honoo House ramen pretty much got all the different protein included which is nice if you’re undecisive like me . The broth was a bit on the bland side for me, the egg could use a bit better timing on marination process. Otherwise it’s a solid bowl with a decent amount of toppings.

Overall, great service, majority of the appetizers are very good (better than other Ramen spots in the area), but the ramen needs some works. Given that they are new, there are always rooms for improvement and we would definitely visit again soon.

The ramen bar on W Grace is newly opened but truly a really great place to grab food and the pricing it fair for the portion sizing! The atmosphere was really nice and friendly and the food was amazing! I went with a friend who had pork dieting restrictions but really wanted to eat some of their ramen, and the server had an amazing recommendation for the veggie ramen with chicken! It was amazing and they accommodate really well for those with dietary restrictions! 10/10 would recommend!!

second time coming into Honoo, they’re definitely improving from before. the restaurant just opened up but servers are all very sweet and welcoming! the portions were really generous for the price. i came in at noon, it wasn’t busy at all and got my food in about 10 mins.

i got the spicy osaka tonkotsu ramen — the spice was okay i asked for more chili oil which leveled it up. the soup was very rich and creamy, a little on the thicker side but still flavorful.

the vegetable gyoza was really good. LOVE the yuzu sauce they gave on the side — sweet, citrusy, with a little tang. paired really well with the crispy gyoza. very cute presentation.

overall, excited to see how they’ll improve further.

First time trying Honoo Ramen and really enjoyed the Tonkotsu Miso Ramen with pork – the broth was creamy and rich. The pork buns appetizer was also super yummy! Definitely recommend asking for chili oil too, it added a nice spice to my ramen Interior was clean and well decorated. Super cute 🙂 Unfortunately the Tonkotsu curry was sold out when I went but I plan on coming back again to try it next time!

I am always looking for good Ramen and I have been spoiled by living in California. I was really hoping for a lot for this place and it was OK. I wish the soup was hotter. I wish I had a little bit more flavor. It just left me wanting a little bit more.

I tried the spicy pork miso ramen and the fried calamari, and both were absolutely delicious! The ramen had the perfect level of spice and rich flavor. I forgot to take a photo until everything was gone but definitely recommend and will be coming back!

Food was mid. Had the tonkatsu beef for the lunch special and the broth was watery and not very flavorful. The noodles were slightly slimy but had good texture. Egg was slightly bitter and not marinated thoroughly. The takoyaki was really good but needed more sauce. Great smokiness on it. The gyoza was hard around the seams and plating could of been better. Decent taste. Service is amazing and the atmosphere is great, but the food was quite disappointing.

The service and the food was amazing!!! i came here when they first opened on monday and it seemed like they were lacking a little flavor but when i went back today i had the amazing server Kaleb, and the food was astonishing delicious, the salad with the ginger dressing on top made it heavenly!!!!! (i forgot to take pictures of the food) Everyone was so nice and welcoming, they even gave us a free ice cream at the end. definitely recommend to try.

My party of three had an excellent time trying out Richmond’s newest restaurant which brings Japanese culture to our table. I had chicken and beef short rib with fried rice, very good food and quick service. Good prices.

Guys, their food is delicious. I came back three times, and every time they improved—absolutely phenomenal. Mason was an awesome server. It’s definitely worth trying out, one of the best restaurants around VCU.
