Such a great place. You know you’re somewhere different when you notice the deer antler chandelier. Really a locals place. You have to know it’s here. Worth the drive from anywhere in Humboldt. If you’ve never eaten there, you’re not prepared for the dining experience. First comes the antipasto plate, a fresh loaf of bead, then the raviolis to share, then the soup ( pork pazole today ), then the salad ( yes! Both soup and salad ), and finally the main dish. Go in hungry. We had the filet steak and the calamari steak for main dishes. Both great. Not too many places serve calamari, breaded and pan fried in butter. Just delicious. I would recommend Double D Steak to everyone. You will sure leave satisfied.

I just adored this gem. The antipasti, fresh bread, but and the ravioli i got BEFORE my soup and salad were just the touch that made this place one of a kind for me. It was like an appetizer for my appetizer. By the time my main course came i was already sold this place was great. Service was fantastic and i dont know what was going on in the bar around the corner but sounded like they were all having themselves a swell ol time. This place is the tops

I stopped here about once or twice a year. I went there the other day as a treat. I was very disappointed mostly with the cleanliness and quality of the food. I ordered a coffee which came in a mug and as I got to the bottom of the mug I found some baked on remnants of something which definitely did not come from my coffee but did come off when I rubbed it hard with my finger. The lettuce for my burger was dead wilting and not good on the edges. I ordered a salad and it was obvious that the lettuce had not been washed there was dirt on the lettuce. I upgraded my side for the burger to onion rings for $3 and I only got four onion rings. These onion rings were the worst I’ve ever had. The onion inside was extremely thin and burnt but the dough on the outside of the onion ring was not burnt but extremely crispy hard and crispy. It was not good. I overheard the kitchen staff making fun of my order for the oyster shooters with tequila. They said ew that’s gross. The atmosphere is a very nice restaurant but the service was not that great. I ordered two oyster shooters one with tequila but they brought me three oyster shooters no tequila. When I gently pointed out the mistake they took the three back and brought me the correct order. I think they should have just brought a shot of tequila and poured it into one of the three as a thank you/sorry.
It’s too bad to see the quality of the food and service come down so far. I remember when going to this place was a satisfying experience. It’s an upscale restaurant but either the people don’t care or the money is not there anymore or something but I am not going back there.

Hands down the best steakhouse in the area and reasonably priced. Employees were very welcoming and friendly. Ordered the Bacon Blue Steak minus the blue and it was amazing. Steak was full of flavor. Lots of food. There was a large party ahead of me but even as big as it was the wait for my meal wasn’t bad. Will be stopping again if I come back on the area for work

The reason for the lower review… it’s simply too much food that I just don’t want. We usually stop here while camping or staying on the Avenue of the Giants in the California redwoods. This last stop we decide would probably be our last, and opt for something in Eureka instead. With your meal you get a cup of soup, choice of two kinds, we each got a different kind, both were awful and so bland. I added a little salt, but that didn’t help. Then you get a salad, followed by a few carrot sticks, salami, cheese cubs and celery, a then a few fried cheese raviolis. Then you’re expected to eat an entire meal. I just wish they would cut out the extras and put the saved money into better quality food or chef.

I’ve driven by this place many times and finally got a chance to have dinner. I really liked all the complimentary appetizers they brought out, including a mini loaf of bread, ravioli, and a veggie and cheese plate! It’s a nice value add, and they were all tasty. Their steak was on point, cooked correctly and not overdone. Drinks were reasonably priced, and the soup I had was great.

I like Double D’s but don’t love it. I’ve eaten there several times and it always just okay for me. Many people love it, but the main courses are really heavy, not always that great (unless you stick with a steak) and the atmosphere is cramped and very loud. That being said, you get a ton of food even if you don’t order appetizers – fresh bread, mini antipasto plate, and depending on the entree soup and salad. The sides are good – garlic mashed, mashed, mac-n-cheese, etc. I tried the chicken marsala this time hoping for something lighter. It was heavily breaded and then fried, and not enough of the mushrooms and sauce – so the chicken was fairly bland and almost dry. My garlic mashed was great. My d.i.l. had the ribs – a small pile but I think plenty. Son had the mac-n-cheese burger which was interesting. A LOT of burger but I think he liked it.
I keep forgetting I’m not crazy about the place and go about 1x a year. Considering the cost I probably should try another place or just order steak which I’ve had before and was perfect.

Very busy place. Clearly a local favourite.
We arrived at 630 on Tuesday night and Kendel (our server) did not say hello when we walked in, only asked if we had reservations. Which we did not. She gave us a table and slowly got around to bringing us the drinks we ordered.
She was clearly overwhelmed by her tables and missed a whole round of some of the items for our table, which came with the entrees.
The filet steaks were under seasoned and under cooked.
The potato skins were amazing.
The service to get our table cleared was non existent.
We felt rushed and unappreciated.
If you’re passing through, I’d give this place a miss. If you’re local, it’s a gem.
I’d never go back.

Yummy, the ribeye and prime rib where cooked perfect, melt in your mouth perfect. By the time you get through the ravioli, the carrot and celery plate the soup the salad your full and have to take your meal home with you. They should turn it around and serve the steak and then serve all the other stuff after. Anyway, the service was okay, not the best, but it was really busy. Inside is super loud at times. If you really want to eat, make a reservation. There is a bar you can get served in, too. 100 bucks for 2 and 2 16oz steaks and alot of food for the price well worth it.
