This is THE place for Mexican food in Hayward! They are family-run and doing their best to make absolutely everything in-house and it shows.
First visit – torta – they make their own bread and didn’t bat an eye when I asked for something they didn’t actually have on the menu. My order was a chicken torta with a little chorizo added. A little chorizo goes a long way and really elevated the dish. This is not so much a pick it up and eat it sandwich as one that you have to attack with a knife and fork initially or you’ll wear it. Once you eat it down to sandwich levels, you’ll be amazed at what a great sandwich they make. Vegetables were bountiful, fresh, crisp and tasty. Chicken was so tender and juicy. Chorizo was well-cooked and not greasy but incredibly flavorful. All-around great experience!
Second visit – enchiladas – also a chicken dish and the same quality chicken was inside those rolled-up bits of deliciousness. Their green sauce had a LOT going on and was really yummy. The dish came with rice and beans on the side that I largely ignored. The real star of the dish was covered in sauce and every bite confirmed my decision.
I’m not a Tres Leches fan but their version is not to be missed. Wow!

Main Street Tacos is absolutely out of this world! I’ve tried five or six different tacos here and every single one has been packed with flavor, easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere. I also tried a burrito once, it was enormous, I couldn’t finish it even though I gave it my best shot. The drinks are fantastic too, and they make a great margarita.
They have plenty of options for those with celiac. Never been a problem when eating here.
You wouldn’t expect to find tacos this good in a small town in Wisconsin, but this little shop delivers big-time. Honestly, some of the best tacos I’ve had and I’ve had them from all over the country. If you’re anywhere near Hayward, don’t miss this place!

Chicken Mole was awesome! Real ones get corn tortillas, but you do you. So delicious, especially with El Yucateco.

Thank you for providing safe gluten free options! It is difficult for our family to eat out in Hayward as we have one adult and one child with celiac disease. The only gluten items on the menu are flour tacos (I would also avoid the fryer if you have celiac), otherwise tacos can be made on corn tortillas. The sweet lady assured me she cooked my daughter’s chicken separately to make sure it was safe for her because she has celiac disease. Thank you for providing a vegetarian option too in the avocado/black bean tacos. Our family appreciates it and we will be back!

As soon as we walked in I knew in my Texan heart it was gonna be good. The smell was amazing. I got an asada and a carnita street taco. The fresh tortilla were great. The meat tender and well flavored. But the star of the show was definitely the birria taco! Packed with all the yummy spices and goodness. And they had glass bottle coke to wash it all down with. We found a new spot to add to this list when we are in the area!

Friendly and flavorful! LOVE stopping here for tacos. The margaritas are strong, but very good.
3 Taco Combo may be the best deal in town.

Great hot fresh Tacos! 4 stars cause dine in is in styrofoam… paper plates or even plastic but foam plates feel gross to me…
The chips were fried to order! That was awesome, wierd that I couldn’t even take one right away. After the cooled a little though they were awesome.
ChoriQueso was good. Very good with the fresh chips.
The pork and pineapple tacos had great flavor. The pineapple worked very well and it was a great taco. The just pork tacos were also very good.
The green salsa was their hot and great flavor but not too spicy. I love high heat, but I understand the market here.
Def hit the spot for some good Tacos!

The person at the front desk acted like he was being inconvenienced to take my families order. The upfront expectation to leave a tip when basically everything is self service is a joke. Also, I got a 19 steak served on a paper plate with plastic wear. It was very tough and I had to saw through it causing the plate to leak all over the table. The salsa should be free because it was just plain bad. The rice was terrible and I am a big fan of arroz rojo. The guac was good, the restaurant was clean and the kids enjoyed there tacos. I wouldn’t recommend eating here.
