The Dirt Bowl dessert was a twist on the classic worth the visit. If you are in Cleveland, I can only recommend trying to make a reservation.
The Good:
The atmosphere is fantastic. We sat in the main dining room, but the open kitchen counter looks like a great spot to watch the chefs. I love the farm-to-table concept and the local ingredients. Our server was excellent—friendly, knowledgeable, and gave a great overview of the family-style menu. It’s clear the front-of-house staff works hard.
The Food & Flow:
Unfortunately, the food was very underwhelming. We started with cocktails and the farmer’s cheese; both were great, but that was the only highlight. We then had the burnt carrots; they tasted old and were served cold, which felt very odd. The biggest disappointment was the Steak Cordelia. We ordered it medium, but it arrived rare, cold, chewy, and very bland. Only the fermented veggies on the side were enjoyable. The timing was also very off. The appetizers came fast, but the steak took forever, making it impossible to eat the dishes together as a family-style meal should be.
Logistics:
Parking in that area is a huge headache. The restaurant mentions $12 validation, but the process is not intuitive. We used the valet immediately next to the restaurant, assuming it was the correct one, but ended up paying a $35 “event rate” (despite no apparent event scheduled that weekend). Ultimately, it was unclear to us which valet actually honors the discount, and while the restaurant doesn’t control the lots, this, combined with a cold, mediocre meal, made for an expensive, frustrating night.
Final Thoughts:
You’re paying for the “vibe” here, but the kitchen didn’t deliver on the basics of flavor, temperature, or timing. I wouldn’t recommend this place, given the other amazing options in Cleveland.
The cocktails were fun, thoughtful, and definitely not your standard bar menu fare. Everything we tried was well balanced and clearly crafted with intention — the flavors were unexpected in a good way and very much in line with Cordelia “do things differently” vibe. The only small knock is that the pours felt a bit modest for the price, but the quality and creativity helped balance that out.
Staff handled the crowd well, stayed friendly, and kept things moving despite how packed it was. Overall, it’s a lively spot with a strong point of view when it comes to drinks.
If you’re into inventive cocktails and don’t mind a busy, energetic atmosphere, Cordelia is absolutely worth checking out.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cordelia and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish.
The Location: The restaurant is located on the iconic East 4th Street, which has such a vibrant and lively atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for a night out in downtown Cleveland.
The Food: Everything we ordered was exceptional, but if you go, the Burger Box is the way to go! It was absolutely delicious and easily the highlight of the meal.
Overall Vibe: Great food, great service, and located on one of the best streets in the city.
I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Cleveland!
We chanced it and walked in right at dinner time and got the last 2 spots at the bar. They have a variety of good sounding drinks to choose from. We were just here to eat. Server was very quick to introduce herself, give menus and water, and was prompt and on point all night. Excellent service.
The food menu is smaller but with a lot of unique foods and flavor combos. They are designed as shareable dishes. We tried one of the cheeses, a carrot dish, the Jojo fries, fried chicken, and the burger box. All dishes tasted phenomenal! And we saw others at want to try. The flavors really shined on all dishes.
We will be going back and highly recommend to others!
The food is smart, heritage-driven, and aggressively local without being preachy about it. The menu leans into a “Bellie Up” share-plate format that encourages a little bit of gluttony.
The standouts are non-negotiable. The “Burger Box” is a masterclass in joy, sliders on house-made sesame buns with a crispy, lacy “cheese skirt” that defies physics. The fried chicken is armor-plated in crunch and seasoned perfectly, and the giant pierogi (because, Cleveland) manages to be both heavy comfort food and surprisingly refined. Even the vegetable dishes, like the roasted cauliflower and the carrot muhammara, bring a Mediterranean brightness that cuts through the richness.
But the real wildcard is the atmosphere. The room is bustling and loud, fueled by a playlist that is strictly hip-hop and rap. There is a fascinating, almost jarring cognitive dissonance to eating off delicate, floral-patterned antique plates while the speakers are blasting 2000s bangers.
At first, it feels out of place, like your Nana suddenly took over the aux cord at the family reunion. But after a few bites and a cocktail, you realize the juxtaposition is the point. The music keeps the nostalgia from feeling dusty. It stops the “heirloom” vibe from taking itself too seriously. It’s loud, it’s fun, and it’s arguably the best meal in Cleveland right now.
The Verdict: Come for the Burger Box, stay for the vibe clash. Just be ready to nod your head while you pass the jojo’s.
Most of the menu is made up of shareable dishes, and the quality is consistently top-tier. You can tell immediately that the owner and creator has true Iron Chef talent — the flavors, presentation, and attention to detail are on another level.
If you’re looking for a spot that blends heart, heritage, and high-level execution, Cordelia’s is the place. A must-visit in Cleveland.
We had a party of 6 and upon recommendation from our friends we went Belly Up.
Now all the dishes were great, but here are some standouts in my opinion:
1 – TOAST WITH TOMATO!!!!!! The only tomatoes I’ve had in a the US that tasted like Europe. Wow, blew my mind! Kept going back to it, couldn’t believe how good this was.
2 – LAMB. Super tender, the tenderest! If you closed your eyes you’d think you’re eating the most perfect corned beef ever. I can’t praise this dish enough!
2 – BURGER WITH CHEESE SKIRT. Definitely interesting looking, but super yummy. 2 smashed patties, with crispy cheese skirt. The spread and bread are excellent! In house made seasoned White Castle buns. Perfectly cooked burger with melty cheese and all the accoutrements. Very very tasty!
Also try the fried chicken skin, fried and seasoned to perfection. Nice crunch! The pork belly melts in your mouth, super tender, fat rendered perfectly, great sweet and salty flavor. The Jammy egg is also excellent as you would have guessed, but I felt that the seasoning (although good) drowned out the taste of the egg.
The establishment is clearly well run. The kitchen was pumping dishes out all night and food was arriving quickly (the restaurant was full). Service was excellent, servers knowledgeable about the food, and kept us entertained all night.
Overall a fantastic experience! We look forward to returning and trying everything all over again.
