We (3) came for Thanksgiving and were so pleased!!! It was our first time although we have been meaning to visit for sometime, so thought Thanksgiving would be a great time to try out this restaurant as an alternative to traditional Thanksgiving food.
Everything was great – smily and attentive service, cozy atmosphere and incredible food! We never felt rushed in ordering as we did it in a couple waves, and the food came out very fast and they provided time for us to order our next couple dishes that we continue to share and enjoy without any rush.

I’ve traveled plenty and enjoyed sushi & Thai restaurants from the Azores, to Ireland, Greece and beyond. The Moon in Blowing Rock is pretty special given the location and well worth searching out if you happen to be in this area of the mountains of North Carolina. First of all, the owner and the entire staff is about as courteous and professional as you will find anywhere. The entire vibe is warm and welcoming and they are truly happy you are there with them. I went there for lunch and was so taken in by the place, I went there again tonight to sit at the sushi bar, enjoy that experience and talk with the owner (Ta). The Vegetable Pad Thai I had for lunch was the best I’ve had and the Summer Rolls are joyous rice wrapped salads for the palate. We tried two soups tonight and they were each full of enticing flavor and hearty to bolster us against tonight’s cold weather. The rolls are of a wide variety & each excellent. I wish I lived here so I could sample all the items from Moon’s menu. I have one more chance in a couple of days, but you can be sure that the first place I’m heading to anytime I come to visit family is this little mountain town sushi/thai restaurant. Thank you again to Ta and your staff.

Amazing little, hidden asian restaurant tucked into the mountain side in Blowing Rock. I recommend having reservations because we were walk-ins and it took a little bit to get seated. However, the servers were bustling and we got seated. We had crab rangoon and pork gyoza for appetizer. Monster Roll and Black Bear roll for sushi. Pad thai, chicken lo mein and pepper steak for main entrees. Everything was absolutely delicious, servers were incredibly attentive, and the atmosphere was quaint and charming. Our server, wish I caught her name, but she was incredible, our drinks never ran dry with her serving us.

Just enjoyed a wonderful lunch. We order a bento box (chicken pad this week as so good!) and sushi roll. Everything was delicious. The service was friendly and fast. Will definitely be going back.

Great experience! We went right as they opened at 4:30. We were sat in the room with the fireplace which was very nice. Not too hot and not too cold. The waitress was very professional and not over bearing. Fiancé ordered fried duck wantons, pork dumplings and pepper steak. All were phenomenal. I ordered himachi jalapeño and 2 sushi rolls; the red mustang and smoked salmon roll. Both were great but the himachi was the award winner in my opinion. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes. This will be our new couples spot.

We’ve been coming to Blowing Rock for 17 years, how did we miss this place. We really enjoyed our meal. My wife and I were in the mood for a fried rice dish. We opted for Basel Fried Rice. It was excellent — great flavor and perfect portion size. My daughter had sushi. Also excellent. We’ll certainly be back

I ordered two types of sushi and it was so good! Very fresh and great presentation. My parents’ food looked amazing too and my mothers thai tea was the best I’ve had so far! The only reason I’m giving this a 4 stars, is because the bathrooms were on the smaller side. The staff, food and everything else was excellent. First time here and it won’t be my last. Definitely worth the extra drive from Hickory!
