Tenders are listless and pay almost no attention to you and ordering ice in your shot nets another $3 charge to your bill. They say you get a better pour I guess. My only issue is that I wasn’t informed of that when I ordered it.
Had the wings. Mediocre at best.
I haven’t found a decent or even trustworthy place to drink or eat in this town yet… Let’s head over to tres amigos.
Food was definitely better than expected overall, but it was hit or miss for the party. Some meals gave me the expected 3/5 star food experience, but the Ruben and the Chicken sandwich definitely hit above its class. Burgers were meh, and wraps were meh, so I can’t justify a higher google rating than 3 stars unfortunately.
Food also came out slow, however, and a few minor serving inconveniences like no silverware and not enough water for the table.
Overall I’d come here again happily as a backup. The happy hour deals are pretty good and it goes until 7PM which is a nice plus for late workers.
This place shamelessly and covertly sneaks an automatic tip (TWENTY FARGIN’ PER CENT) into your bill without telling you!
That means, unless you closely scrutinize your bill, you won’t notice this subterfuge, and you will unwittingly leave a 2nd tip on top of that!
For months, I had been joining a large group of friends there each Sunday to watch football – spending a lot of money on food and beverages.
Whenever I pay for a meal, unless the total jumps out at me as grossly excessive, I assume in good faith that the waitress charged me the correct amount, and that I don’t live in such a conniving society where restaurants practice such an underhanded, deceitful tactic.
However, two weeks ago, one of the ladies in our large group quipped in surprise that her bill already included the tip – 20% at that! At her table, only she and her daughter were sitting.
I was of course surprised to hear that, so I took a peek at mine – it too contained a 20% tip hidden in there.
When the waitress came to collect my credit card, I asked her why the big tip was hidden in my total?
She turned white-faced, and you could tell she knew she’d just been caught red-handed.
Nervously, she tried to wiggle her way out of it, citing that this is normal for “large parties”.
I said, “okay, if it’s normal, then why don’t you at least inform the patrons, so that they don’t inadvertently leave a duplicate tip”?
She was speechless.
Then I asked, “I’m paying separately, meaning this bill is only for one person. How one person qualify as a large group?
She replied that it’s based on the table size, which is obviously ridiculous, and still doesn’t excuse the fact that she didn’t divulge this to us.
Then I said, “this is only a four-top. Since when does a table of four qualify as a ‘large group’ “?
I continued, “that means that for months, I’ve been leaving you a duplicate tip! You know our group – we come in here every Sunday. Why didn’t you bring this to our attention the following week – or better yet – straight away, to prevent this duplicate payment”?
Knowing she was busted, the clammed down and didn’t say a word.
I very rarely complain, but this was a clear rip-off, disgustingly taking advantage of loyal customers, so I asked to see her manager.
Her manager refused to come to the table, and said instead if I have a complaint, I can talk to the barmaid, who was supposedly the manager,
So, I went to the bar, waited several minutes for the “manager” to tend to other patrons. When she finally found time to dignify me with her presence, instead of apologizing or offering any kind of understanding, she stubbornly doubled-down on this racket, and told me too bad.
Needless to say, I will never return to this joint.
What a scam operation!
