I came here for an impromptu dinner with my daughter. The service was good and the ambiance was nice, with beautiful hardwood and glass tables that really stood out. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing and did not meet expectations at all. I truly wanted to love this place, but the food quality and flavor was a letdown.

They definitely need new chefs because the food has absolutely no flavor! The chicken and steak were honestly unpleasant to eat, and don’t even get me started on the prices. A “large” strawberry milkshake is eight dollars, and the cup isn’t even close to a real large—it also tastes weird. Even if they paid me to eat there, I’d still rather starve.

I had read very mixed reviews of this restaurant but wanted to try it for myself. Very glad that I did, and am updating some info that was mentioned in past reviews. The dinner started out with chips and salsa and regular water, free of charge. We got large beers that were great value for the price. We had the mixed fajitas and a rabbit dish in green sauce (can’t remember the name of that). They were a bit in the high end of price but both were very authentic and delicious, piping hot. Our server was very attentive. She spoke very little English which gave me a nice opportunity to practice my Spanish. The area we ate in was very casual but there was a large section that might be open in the warmer weather. All in all the experience was great and I look forward to eating there again!

From the looks outside the restaurant, this looks like the place to go. Upon entering, we quickly noticed NO A/C in the restaurant, purposely. No air vents anywhere. You’ve been warned. Chips and dips, didn’t do it for me. I had the fatita mixta with chicken and a very small plate of rice and pinto beans. Disappointing and lacked flavor. I’ll admit, once inside, this place is huge and the decor screams Mexican pride. Maybe they had an off night, and with family members from Texas who experienced plenty of tex-mex and authentic Mexican food. This doesn’t compete. I won’t be returning. I won’t recommend trying this restaurant.

The food was delicious, the service was horrible. There were only four tables with patrons and the times between the waitress would check on us and to pay our bill. There was a group of waitresses too busy talking in the corner to wait on their customers. I was not going to leave a tip but lo and behold there was a mandatory gratuity of 10% for me and my wife! No wonder she didn’t have to provide any service, she knew she was getting paid regardless. I’m not coming back here again.

Atmosphere was beautiful, loved the décor.
The food was not good. Ordered the carna asada. It was BURNT crisp, the meat was so small. Beans were spicy, rice had no flavor, but the drinks were good.
They charge $4.00 if paying by card, they add tip (10%), and they charge for everything! There are also no chips and salsa.

A very festive Mexican spot. Looks small from the outside, large (and colorful) on the inside. Interesting wooden statues and other peculiar decorations. Can’t fault the food; it was delicious. The fried fish (Mojarra Frita) didn’t disappoint. Excellent side of guacamole. The large size drinks are HUGE, but kinda pricey ($10). Service was competent and friendly, but a bit inattentive when it came to paying the bill. This is my only minor complaint: they automatically included a 10% tip on the bill, but didn’t tell us when it came time to tip, so I added the normal 20% on top of that. So look carefully at your bill. But other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, and I plan on being a return customer.

Being from the west coast, we definitely have high standards for Mexican food. La Chocita hit the spot! Homemade chips, simple yet delicious recipes, fresh juices..will absolutely go back when in the area. To note: it’s not a quiet place, very loud music playing, but it set the authentic atmosphere.

I wasn’t really crazy about the food in this place however are the atmosphere is amazing the services wonderful the food was very spicy although they do have American options. It seems to me to be an authentic Mexican place but beware that this food is very spicy however maybe you’re into that I think that ownership should turn down the spice a little. I had the ribs drenched in a salsa verde which wasn’t really that good it came with some red rice and some pinto beans and corn tortillas which weren’t very favorable at all. I think they lack garlic and onions in the food but it was edible but for the price they charged I really wasn’t that satisfied. However the atmosphere was amazing the people were welcoming the staff was very friendly but for some reason the food wasn’t really that good.

1st time there and I really enjoyed it. I will be going back again. However I think out server was about 16 yes old, but that’s none of my business. I highly recommend this place. It’s fun, friendly and the food was fresh.
