I was asked to revisit, and I did over the weekend. This time I went in for a late lunch around 1:40. It was less crowded, and there wasn’t a long line of frustrated customers waiting for food. My order came out much faster and tasted much better than before. It seems the new manager has really improved the process — fewer people in the kitchen and more helping out front, which made a big difference. I’ll definitely be coming back. Hopefully next time the tables will be cleaner — that part still needs some attention.
I decided to give this Fairfax City location a second try before writing a review, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t improve. Both visits were during Saturday lunch hours — the first time was packed, the second much quieter. Despite fewer customers, my order still took quite a while the first time (over 45 minutes) and came out much faster the second (about 25 minutes), though the quality didn’t quite match.
The food itself tastes good, but consistency seems to be an issue. My first visit had burnt buns; the second, a burnt patty. Not sure which is better at this point. For a burger place, the wait time feels unusually long.
I also noticed several customers looking frustrated or leaving while waiting, and tables weren’t cleaned during my second visit — I ended up wiping one down myself. Despite having plenty of staff, the operation felt disorganized.
I might try a different location, but probably not this one again.

Hi, I wanted to share some feedback about my recent order. This is the second time I’ve gone to this location and spent around $52, and both times I’ve had issues. I placed a pickup order through Uber Eats, and it said the food would be ready between 6:20–6:40. We arrived at 6:40 and still had to wait. We ordered another set of cheese fries and a cookies & cream milkshake while we were there, and the fries didn’t have any cheese at all. My chicken sandwich was mostly bread and pickles with a very small piece of chicken. I understand that sometimes you have to wait an extra 10 minutes, and I know the store is new and can be busy, but we didn’t get home until 7:20 and we live only nine minutes away. There were only four people ahead of us, so the long wait and the repeated mistakes are really disappointing. I just wanted to make you aware.

I guess the DC area just can’t get shake shack right. I ordered online and it said 15 min wait and I arrived and waited over 20 min longer. If you say you are fast food then it should be fast. Also the prices are insane. Over $10 for a single burger. Not worth it in my opinion. Just go to good stuff eatery.

Went here to eat with my sister best food I’ve tasted in a while the food tasted fresh tasted delicious. Well cooked told the general manager this was my first time here and the food was incredible. Amazing big props to this location. The burgers are fries were extremely delicious. The restaurant is very spacious with plenty of seating. I appreciate the clean restrooms, they also have paper towels in the restroom. Pleasant staff.

I don’t understand how they manage a 3.5 star rating. Reading other reviews it appears to be what I found is the norm. The employees here are very nice BUT service was really slow, packaging of the food was a mess, the prices are incredibly high. $20 for a burger, onion rings (6 of them!) and small soda is way out of line. My onion rings were good and you can’t mess up a soda but my burger was set into a larger than needed box which was then put into a nice big bag. My burger had so much room the top slid off so it had to be reassembled. That did give me a chance to scrape off the half inch thick layer of very hot cherry peppers. I would have expected better than this if my lunch had been half the price. The place has no “atmosphere”. It’s large and very noisy. It does seem to be clean though.

Cold burger, overcooked onion rings, sauce clearly straight out of the fridge. Watched a loose door smack a toddler from a wind gust and she ended up in tears. For some reason every nearby parking space is marked “Pick up and go zone”, but when the food takes 20min+ whenever you order, it becomes a normal parking space. Food at this location seems to always be doomed to failure and it looks like this one is no different. Go to Mosaic or Tysons instead.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and it’s such a dog-friendly place, which I really appreciated. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and it was such a happy experience overall. I’m so glad a Shake Shack opened near my home, and I’ll definitely be coming back again.
