Great BBQ spot near Ross Park Mall. We enjoyed the food and rustic atmosphere, and the service was fantastic! We started with the brisket nachos, and each got a “pick 2-3” so we could try all the meats. The smoked kielbasa was my favorite, ribs were just ok. Sauces were very good, as was the ice cream sandwich (Local made by Leona’s). We will definitely return!

Good selection of BBQ. The brisket was flavorful but a bit dry. The pulled pork was moist and nicely pulled but could use a bit more seasoning. The chicken sandwich was cooked well and used quality chicken. We sampled both the sweet and smokey in-house sauces. Portions were good sizes, the salad was large. The band to patron distance is a bit close for kids and sound distraction. Service was great.

First time at Wheelfish a few weeks back. Excellent Food at a reasonable price. The Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Sweet Potato Fries and Smoked Potato Salad all tasted Amazing! Highly recommend ordering these. The three house BBQ sauces on the table were very delicious. I liked the Smokey and Sweet ones best. The hot BBQ was too spicy for me.

Dark rustic wood-lined dining room gives an old-timey Inn feel. My only complaint on the atmosphere is we got seated by a window with a long hard wooden bench on one side of our table. The bench was pretty Spartan and uncomfortable but the food more than made up for it. Wouldn’t hurt to put some thin cushioning on that bench.

Pretty standard BBQ spot. I wasn’t particularly impressed with any of the items I got from here, but then again, it’s Pittsburgh BBQ. Perhaps some of their other meat is better, but what I had was substandard. I tried the 1/4 lb of pulled pork with Mac n cheese and fries.

The pulled pork was just okay. Price for the portion for about average. Definitely better deals in other places but not terrible. The meat was somewhat dry and the sauce wasn’t anything too special. Some fattier pieces but mostly leanish.

The fries were a bit soggy but decently seasoned. They went well with the same sauce they gave for the pork. I would have liked more of the sauce, as that’s were most of the flavor in this meal was coming from.

The Mac n cheese was also just okay. It had a sort of artificial taste to it. The little bit of breadcrumbs on top seemed just like an afterthought, as there wasn’t much of them. Somewhat oily.

All in all, I wasn’t a huge fan of this place. It wasn’t bad, but not great either. Wouldn’t really see myself returning here.

Stopped in for a late lunch. I had a half rack of ribs and potato salad with a hazy IPA. The ribs were overcooked and there was cartilage and bone fragments mixed in that I needed to pick out( not baby backs, Saint Louis ribs). Potato Salad was just ok. Expected it to be smoked but the taste wasn’t there. My wife had the Mac and cheese bowl with pulled pork. She said it was okay. As a person that smokes my own meat, I would not return to try it again.

Always wanted to try this place and finally got the chance, but it will be the last time. We are working close to here and decided to get dinner for seven, which cost $130. We ordered four cheese steaks and two pulled pork sandwiches. Neither pulled pork sandwich came with any BBQ sauce, and the cheese steaks are some of the saddest-looking sandwiches I’ve seen, especially at $15 each. Don’t get me wrong, they tasted good, but they were way overpriced for what you got. I was highly disappointed in the price compared to the portions. Literally 4-6 bites & very little meat.

Oh my god. I’m in heaven.

Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. So much to talk about; where to start?

The wings are smoked and then fried. I’ve never had anything like it; placing these as the best wings in a category of their very own. It’s not fair to compare these to other fried wings (but yes, they are better). We ordered six Spicy Cowboy. I haven’t tried the other sauces, but I’m sold on this one.

My main course, a half rack of ribs, were some of the best ribs I’ve ever had. They were juicy on the inside, came apart easily, but had a crunchy bark on the outside that exploded with flavor with every bite.

The basic mac & cheese is somehow the best mac & cheese I’ve ever had at a restaurant? I’m honestly puzzled at this one since it’s a small side without any toppings. The macaroni noodles are cooked perfectly al dente, tossed in a unique, light cheese sauce, creating this textured combination that makes your tongue dance for joy.

Pulled pork egg rolls were crunchy and flavorful. Sweet potato fries were crispy, delicious, and sweet without being too sweet; we didn’t even need to use the brown sugar dipping sauce. Our draft beers were fresh and tasty.

The only thing we wouldn’t order again are the tacos. They were kind of bland, boring, and fell right through the bottom of the shell when picked up. Kind of strange considering how well they do everything else.

This was a solid find for us. We will be back and bring everyone we know here.

Really great barbecue
The baby back ribs are better than most and not fall off the bone what anybody can do. The chicken is pretty good as well as the pulled the fries are great just out of the fryer and fresh cut. Mac and cheese is really good as well as the brisket

Edit… they have changed there BBQ selection they now have spicy sweet and bold bold was probably the best one. The Mac and cheese is quite good.

The brisket is so tender it falls apart. The salmon was amazing and there bbq sauce selection was nice the smokey Texas and Carolina bacon mustard where the best and if you mix them together it creates an amazing combo with all the key notes of flavor.

Nice place to hangout with some food, whiskey, and live music. We went on a Saturday, they had the football game on as well as a blues rock band playing. The music was a bit too loud for me, but might not be noteworthy to others. The sweet potato fries were amazing, and the hot wings were pretty spicy. Drinks are decent for the price, would visit again.
