We ordered the fried fish combo- whiting. Yams, mac, and greens. Cinnamon roll cake.
Fish was fried to perfection. Not over seasoned. Mac was delicious and creamy. Greens was seasoned as well. Sooo good. The corn bread and yams are to desired. I’d like a “cakey” sweet cornbread.
Fried wings were great as well. The lemonades were super tasty. Great customer service too. And I absolutely LOVE the book store.

Great spot for soul food classics. Loved the fried fish burger and the veggie plate – the collards and mac and cheese were highlights. Great candied yams, too. And it’s vegetarian friendly with most sides made without pork.

The food was delicious ! I had the boasted wings, mac and cheese, and cabbage. I also had a piece of cornbread. The chicken was falling off the bone! The macaroni and cheese was good and cheesy! The cabbage was seasoned well. Corn went great with it! The honeybun and pecan cake was so moist and great! The peach lemonade is so delicious! I will go back for more! I highly recommend! The service was great and the prices are reasonable!

My wife and I were in the mood for some soul food and came across this place on friendly. The prices were extremely fair so we decided to give it a shot. Upon arrival the ambiance was appealing. It was very clean and inviting. The lady that took our order was very sweet and the service was pretty efficient. With that being said the fact that the food was less than underwhelming was disappointing. My wife ordered the meatloaf with cabbage and mac and cheese and corn bread. The Mac was pretty decent, that was the only part that was. The cabbage was gravely under-seasoned and the meatloaf was extremely sweet and tasted like mystery meat. I didn’t want to return the plate because it’s a black own establishment and I valued the service. However the follow up plate was TERRIBLE. I got the “brosted”wings and pinto beans and mac. The beans once again were SWEEET, why?!? The wings had zero flavor, they were absolute worse wings I’ve ever had in my life. Please consider redoing these menu items. I can’t say I’ll

Great place.. they showcase a lot of local artists. They have a lot of local and african american books.And items for african americans, especially hbcu items, I know that they are in aggie land and we love aggies.I’m a ram here, but they also have Ram Representation! i’m feeling that! Great place!

I attended a meeting of the Silent Book Club of Greensboro here tonight and I’m SO glad I did. The food was outstanding. The fried chicken leg quarter isn’t breaded, it’s fried like wings and was absolutely delicious. The mac & cheese and green beans tasted just like Grandmama used to make, and the cornbread was fantastic as well. Prices are reasonable and the people are lovely. Also be sure to visit the bookstore inside, the Next Chapter. Love finding new local businesses to support!

This was our first time visiting this establishment and it did not please. Wife ordered the meatloaf it was cold. We both ordered mac & cheese and it had some salty spots within. I ordered the shrimp plate. Didn’t seem to be jumbo, no seasoning at all, but I can say that they were hot!!!! My other side was collards and they were to sweet for my taste. Bread of choice for the table was cornbread, there was nothing really distinctive about it. To say the least I could not understand how dinning in you still have to get up from the table and pick up your own food from the counter. With as many people that was working, not sure why that was a thing. But yet someone came by and checked on the table. No refills on beverages.

visited Ben’s Boyz on a recommendation from one of my closest friends while in Greensboro. It’s mom and pop owned and was very good. They do have seating on the inside where you can order and sit/eat.
They also have a local black owned bookstore to showcase local black owned entrepreneurs who have their own products which I loved!
I ordered the wings combo with mac and cheese and collard greens with cornbread and a pineapple lemonade. It took about 15-20 minutes for my order to be ready. The wings were good, fried extra crispy just how I like them. The collard greens were ok; they’re cooked with vinegar and I’m not a fan of my greens having the vinegar taste. The mac and cheese was also delish.
The pineapple lemonade was my favorite, sweet and you could tell they use fresh lemons to make it.
Overall, definitely family friendly, good food and cost friendly! Try it out if you’re in the Greensboro area.
