We really enjoyed trying Peruvian cuisine for the first time. Our meals were all excellent. The food is very flavorful, the portions are generous, and the service was welcoming and attentive. Looking forward to returning to Toby’s 2 very soon. At night it kind of looks like they are closed or are closing because the sign is dark (maybe put some lights on it or shine a spotlight on it?) but it is well lit inside the restaurant and, of course, there is the “open”sign.

Honestly, the food here is incredible. I give 5 stars based on the food alone.
Our party had 6 people, it was about 3pm, the place was empty. We ordered, they didn’t have all of the ingredients to make everything on the menu. We kind of just ordered a bunch of stuff and shared.
The food didnt exactly match what we had ordered, but it was probably the best food I have ever eaten. The prices are decent for the amount you get of everything. The atmosphere is nice, it’s quiet, the server was friendly and willing to help us with the menu.
I am just really blown away by the food, everything tasted so good, I will definitely go again.

Definitely a must try <3 Food was absolutely delicious!!!! Staff is super friendly and attentive. Quick service and great portions. We are so delighted to finally have a good restaurant local. We can’t wait to go back!!!! Our daughter (6) who is a super picky eater kept saying how much she LOVED their food :) you will not be disappointed
The food has amazing flavor and tastes super fresh especially the seafood
They did not disappoint and completely understood the assignment
Yes they serve chicken tenders for kids
Both my kids shared a plate of that and the salchi papas (French fries w/hot dogs)

I have mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, the majority of their food is delicious. On the other – the service and overall experience was lacking.
We visited Toby’s Sunday evening. Another table was occupied the same time we arrived, so there were only 2 occupied tables in the restaurant. When we started the order, we were told that several positions we wanted are absent (all desserts and one of their drinks) – ok, that happens. So we ordered 4 juices and asked for some time to select the food, which was our mistake. Juices arrived after 25 minutes of waiting and there were only 3 of them, they forgot about the fourth. They have taken the food order at the same time, so we received our food after a total of 55 minutes wait. The other table was served much quicker, so my guess is that the place is understaffed.
Regarding the food, almost all of it was amazing. We ordered Tallarin Saltado (pasta) with shrimp and Trio Marino (seafood/ceviche/fried seafood combo). The former was amazing, the latter one was good (especially ceviche), but fried part was overfried to the point that seafood taste was lost. The juices were probably squeezed on the spot and were tasty.
All in all, if you’re not in a rush or order the food by calling them – this is a good place to visit just to try their food. But we did not enjoy our visit that much simply because of the wait times. Your mileage may vary.

How is this place not packed on a regular basis?! I hope people aren’t sleeping on Toby’s because their food is flavorful, fresh and abundant. Start with the yucca, you’ll be hooked from there. Make sure to go with an appetite because the portions are no joke! To have an authentic Peruvian restaurant in Winsted is the gift no one expected but everyone needs. Go! Bring your fam! Order anything!

Walking into Toby’s tonight I felt like I was in Peru and the food definitely reflected it. Got the Lomo Saltado and it was awesome! Can’t wait to have other menu items – just wish they had Picura
Please help keep this spot going!

We stopped into this place when we drove by and saw Peruvian food. We couldn’t believe that they had a Peruvian restaurant in Winsted. The dishes that my wife and I had were quite delicious and definitely made the stop worthwhile. However, the atmosphere of the place is very cold, and so is the temperature! Further, there’s no hint of anything Peruvian. It’s a very sterile inside and appears to have been decorated with whatever they had on hand at the time. I’m sure it costs a ton to open up a restaurant, but a little bit of effort making the inside more Peruvian and more inviting would probably garner a few more guests. It would be a shame if the place closed before they could make a few changes to increase their business because the food is well worth the trip. It’s authentic and it’s delicious.

Had the Lomo Saltado, everything was excellent. Also tried the Yucca fries and Peruvian corn (like corn nuts but WAAAAAY better with a green sauce). Prices and service were good, and definitely try the fresh fruit juices and shakes if you get a chance! Will definitely be back!
