My husband and I gave Amato’s a try for the first time last night. Upon arriving, we waited a few minutes to be seated. The young lady who guided us to our table was very cordial. Afterwards, we waited a few minutes for someone to take our drink order, which arrived not long after. However, it took a bit longer to place our food order, which then took about 50 minutes for it to arrive! My husband tried their pepperoni pizza; he said the crust was really good. I ordered grilled chicken with sun dried tomatoes and added extra veggies. It was plated nicely and had good flavor, however, it was swimming in olive oil. To be fair, it does list that on the menu, but this was excessive.
In all, we spent an hour and a half at this place. Mainly waiting on our meals. I also had to flag down a different waitress just to get refills. Needless to say, we were not impressed. I hate to leave a negative review for any establishment, but for the price I paid and the service we received, Amato’s is not my cup of tea.

Please, please, please give these folks your business. Amato’s was exactly what we needed after a weekend’s worth of hiking and rock hounding.
I found this wonderful restaurant through a Google Maps search of places on our way home and we were very happy this choice spot came up. Did I mention this was our first time?
The food was delicious, very well made and was delivered very quickly. Though we were there between lunch and dinner, let’s call it lunch, the staff was welcoming and took very nice care of us.
The stand out, what I expect they are know for, is their Pizza Stella. A unique, at least to us, take on a pizza. Folded into five open pockets and arranged on the pan in a star, was ricotta, mozzarella arugula, roasted garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes, basil prosciutto and Parmesan Reggiano (standard). We asked and they graciously added eggplant. The crust was golden, crunchy and pillow soft on the inside. So good.
We also had the wing zings (?) poppers and gravy fries, which had a very light no where near as salty as diner disco fries gravy, also recommended.
TL:DR – When you’re traveling route 30, or 340 or near Mount Joy, or in the Lancaster area, it is ABSOLUTELY worth your time to head to Amato’s

Got a few pizzas and a pasta dish. Pizzas were okay. The pasta dish was pretty bland. Tiramisu was strange and served in a cup. The front dining room looked like a standard pizza shop dining area. We were sat in the front with another family and zero music for the first half of the meal which was pretty awkward. The back area looked so much nicer and there was no one sitting back there. Price was way too high for the quality of food.

Pizza was incredible and didn’t feel like after eating it like most pizza. Got an assortment of different pizzas and will definitely be returning for our favorite.

Never realized this restaurant was in mount joy, but glad we found it. We have been here 3 times now and each time the food has been delicious! We’ve always had excellent service as well. I included a picture but I had already started eating it. Their wings are my favorite! They are the perfect amount of crispy! Highly recommend trying this place!!

After eating here for the first (and only) time, I’ve come to the conclusion the good reviews must be just for the pizza or the lack of better options in Mt. Joy. I’m shocked an Italian restaurant would serve watery spaghetti sauce. The bread and oil was delicious. The fish sandwich was bland and the tartar sauce was expired. Our server was very nice though.

I had such a well crafted review in my head to describe the best authentic Italian meal but the food coma brain fog is kicking in. Pete described the menu items with such detail that for a second I thought I was in a 5* fine dining restaurant. Then when the food arrived it didn’t disappoint. It was BUSSIN

Service was top notch and even tho they were busy, we were well taken care of! Caesar salad was really good had an interesting take on the dressing. I can’t figure out what made it special but it sure was yummy. Pepperoni/sausage pizza was wood fired and yummy!!!! Ended with a slice of creamy Tiramisu !!! SO GOOD!!!!! Definitely coming back! Worth an 1 1/2 hour drive!

Authentic Sicilian wood fired pizza with genuine specialty Italian ingredients. Pizza Stella presentation and taste could be a winner in any professional contest. From the owners, to the staff, your food satisfaction is their goal. One of the best pizzerias from here into and including NYC!!
