This place used to be mediocre if not awful. Stopped coming here for years but tried it again recently because a few people had told me that it had gotten better. They weren’t kidding!! Hunan is the best Chinese buffet in the city now. The people running this place deserve a pat on the back—I can’t stop coming back to this place. Hope they’re around for many more years to come!

I thoroughly enjoyed the food! Everything was cooked to perfection and I have to say the customer service is amazing! I opted to bring the buffet home instead of dining in. They have a wide selection and I just couldn’t decide on what to choose. I had many questions about the menu. Over the phone, the staff member took my order and was very patient and answered all of my questions while helping me make a great selection. I was very satisfied and full afterwards. Thank you so much Hunan’s Buffet. I will certainly be coming back!

Tried this place after driving past it for a long time and was pleasantly surprised! Food was hot and fairly freshly put put. Workers were nice. Definitely good value for my money. Can’t beat $12.99 for a buffet on a Friday night. Didn’t have crawfish but understandable for sure.

Solid choice. Think about how everywhere else wants at least $10 for a combo.. I came here mostly because of their dinner buffet, since it has crawfish.
For $15.99, you really can’t beat that. If you want a quiet experience, come here. They just renovated & the food is good. Buffet is small but has a good bit of choices. PS the sauces are alongside the salad bar.
Food always comes out hot as a result. There was always an employee stirring the food to make sure it stayed hot.. wiping it down. I love their attention to detail. Manager is very kind & has great recommendations.

Used to really love this place as a kid, was really sad as an adult to see it declined so much before, but SO happy that the new owners brought it back and the quality has returned.
Overall, I was super happy with my lunch here. Everything is done in a tad smaller batches than most places to reduce waste but also keep things fresh & not get dried out. The salt and pepper shrimp were perfect! All the veggies were great and not too oily. I do wish they had just a basic crunchy roll on the sushi portion, but I’m just not big on salmon, which was most of the options. All the fruit was super fresh and delicious. I ended up eating like a whole plate of pineapple. All in all, I definitely recommend coming by and trying the new Hunan out!

Everything was made in small batches on a Monday night and everything I tried was tasty. The young man that greeted me was super friendly and even recommended different dishes. Nice, small, and clean place.

The food here is always sooo good, and the service is fantastic. Their buffet is good, but we usually order off the menu.

After my last three visits, I must say that the food at the lunch buffet is below average.
The eggplant was cold, over battered and so much so that the breading soaked up the sauce making the batter very difficult to chew.
The fried catfish was cold and also over battered.
The fried pepper shrimp were cold and the breading was soggy.
The sesame chicken was very tough. They must use the cheapest type of chicken and cooked it way before it was put on the line.
Baton rouge has no more really good Chinese buffets any longer.
They need to put less food out and make sure what they put out is fresh.
The pork ribs were fatty, bland and tough.
The breading on the chicken wings was ridiculously thick. Now that I think about it. The breading may be heavy to fill people up on that instead of meat.
The chicken on a stick was the best item on the line. It could have been served fresher.
The pictures looked a lot better than the food was. Very misleading. The lack of customers reflected the sub standard food.

We have eaten here many times over the past few decades. Sometimes it is pretty good, sometimes it is mediocre. It’s always overpriced, but we can deal with that if we only eat here once in a while. Today, however, we placed an order >$100 and it was genuinely disgusting. The sauce for the kung pao chicken had completely broken / split, as in it was no longer emulsified – see the picture included. It was a disgusting sea of yellow oil that we genuinely could not eat. Again, let me repeat we have ordered this dish many times in the past; it has never been served to us this way. It was inedible and the chef should be ashamed; my 12 year old knows what a broken sauce is and how not to break one (and certainly knows better than to SERVE one to somebody!). On top of that, there were almost no veggies or peanuts in the Kung Pao, just nasty gristly bits of chicken. As well, the egg rolls were very greasy and underfilled, the egg drop soup was oily, and the fried rice was oily, tasted bad (like they had used old oil), and had almost no egg in it. Just an all around disgrace, and I figure trying to get my money back would be a waste of time. This restaurant has seriously gone downhill since the founder died in 2020; to his family, if you read this, shame on you. Despite my family having eaten here for over 20 years, this was the final straw.
