First time here. We sat at the sushi bar and it was perfect because it was better seats for us to be closer face to face and enjoy each other’s company. Sashimi platter was excellent, fresh and delicious. Homemade ice creams (black sesame and matcha) was better then I expected.

Spectacular food, ambiance, and service. My sister and I came at 5:30 after our trip to Hana and were sat around 6:05. Tip: get there early and put your name on the list because the couple behind us was told there was a 1.5 – 2 hour wait. As there should be honestly and it is SO worth it.
Our waiter was excellent and attentive and the food came out incredibly quickly. We have almost perfected our order at Nuka and it is always such a special occasion when we decide to dine here. Here goes:
We had the Dragonfly roll, spicy garlic edamame, furikake crusted seared ahi, tempura shrimp udon (will be ordering the miso cream pasta next time though), black sesame ice cream (ICONIC), and miso ice cream (our first time trying and it was SO GOOD WOW). I cannot say enough good things about Nuka. It is a must go whenever I come home.

Really really enjoyed our experience and meal here. The ahi bowl I ordered was taste and fresh. The sushi roll was okay but glad we ordered it to try it. Service was wonderful! Would recommend this place and would love to go back!

Dined here many many times. The food was always amazing, some of my favorite cocktails, and there has almost always been high quality fish. The waitlist operation is inconvenient, but if you’re willing to get through that then bear in mind you will be treated unkindly by the servers. On multiple occasions I have had horrible service. It’s hard to say how many times i’ve actually enjoyed any service i’ve received here aside from the people that ran the food. Servers are miserable, rude, stuck up, and they do not have any sense of recovery after being rude. It’s unfortunate that I don’t have it in me to leave a bad tip so i’ll always leave 20%, but after my last negative interaction, I will never be returning. It’s unfortunate as the food and drinks are great, sushi chefs are talented, the food runners are nice and friendly, but your server staff is consistently rude and ruins the entire experience. Don’t come here if you want decent service.

Nuka in Haiku offers a cozy, stylish setting with a menu that leans into Japanese classics. While the sushi and rolls were just okay — fresh but not particularly memorable — the meat skewers really stood out. Perfectly grilled and full of flavor, they were a great surprise and easily one of the best parts of the meal.
The real highlight, though, was the miso cod – buttery, tender, and deeply satisfying. It alone is worth coming for. Service was solid and the space has a nice ambiance, making it a good choice if you’re in the area and looking for a relaxed dinner with some standout bites.

Delicious sushi spot upcountry.
My first time dining at Nuka was outstanding. The highly quality of the fish was noticeable. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious.
We sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chefs were very warm and friendly. The service from our waitress was okay- she wasn’t the friendliest.
Our food came out quickly after placing our order which was awesome because we were hungry!
We didn’t have a reservation upon arrival and waited about 15 minutes for a party of two. Its indoor dining only and the space is on the smaller side. There is sushi bar seating as well (about 10 spots).
We enjoyed the ceviche and mocktails from their evening specials menu, along with the dragonfly roll, maguro nigiri and ahi salad from their regular menu.
We’ll definitely be back.

As we went to the Road of Hana to explore the Twin Falls we discovered this Japanese restaurant was on the way there. Food was excellent. Cute little place. Staffs were wonderful. Sashimi was fresh. Our tummy satisfied.

We had a great dinner at Nuka. The sushi was excellent and clearly made with very fresh ingredients.
We especially loved one of the specials: baked and fried salmon with a green sauce. It was rich, perfectly cooked, and really memorable.
The service was warm and attentive, which made the experience even better. A lovely spot in Paia and definitely worth a visit if you enjoy high-quality sushi done well.

This place was good, but the hype was better. Both times went there it was jam packed, so limited seating, that is why i give the atmosphere a low score, not much you can do about that, i understand. The people working do a great job and keep the restaurant flowing. The wait staff are nice and friendly when your their customer. The food was good, but i feel like I could of gone to any sushi place and gotten the same kind of taste. Would i go there again, probably not.
