The West African cuisine was phenomenal—rich, flavorful, comforting, and made with so much care. Every bite felt soulful and nourishing, the kind of food that feeds more than just your appetite. You can truly taste the pride and tradition behind it.
The service was outstanding—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. It wasn’t just great customer service; it felt like community. Add that to the incredible vibe and thoughtfully designed space, and it made the entire experience unforgettable.
ChopnBlok isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a feeling, a gathering place, a celebration. I would absolutely go back and recommend it without hesitation. If you’re looking for amazing food, beautiful energy, and a space that feels like home, this is it.
We arrived without reservation, was told a wait time of 45 minutes. Totally fair. However, we were asked to wait at the entrance to the restroom. Do you want to write down my name? No. Can you text us when the table is ready? No. Can we wait outside? No. It’s kind of awkward to stand in front of the restroom for 45 minutes. So we decide to try another location at Post. No line, yeah. The cashier was in bad mood. (Sorry for her. ) No greeting, no smile, not a word but just stared at us. Fine, we are here for food not your smile. Ordered Motherland vegetarian version and Trad chicken version. The bill was $45 (not including tax and tip yet) and we got side order size of 2 bowels of curry over rice ( yeah, there are vegetables and 5 slices of chicken breast).
The flavor was soooo good. Smoky hint in the rice, tender distinguish African curry sauce that awake our taste palettes.
Was the food good, yes. Was it a good experience, no. Will we go back, no.
Ordered the Trad and it was delicious! Includes jollof jambalaya, chicken, stewed plantains, & yaji veggies. The meat pie minnies were also tasty!
Motherland is a vegetarian option. Curry flavor was ok.
Overall a nice place in the POST to grab a quick meal.
I ordered the trad bowl. It came with smoked jollof jambalaya, chicken, thank veggies and stewed plantains. It was so good! The spices and herbs were very prominent and complemented all the food in the bowl. The chicken was very tender and seasoned very well! The staff was very nice and they have samples for you to try. I tried the motherland curry and it was very good! I’ll have to come back to try the motherland or golden bowl.
The atmoshere is very much a lively food court but with more neon lights and open light which makes for nice place to eat.
