I absolutely loved my experience at ChopnBlok. From the moment I walked in, everything about the space felt like home—the warmth, the energy, the music, the decor, the people. The ambiance alone is an experience: vibrant, intentional, and full of life, with a beautiful celebration of West African culture woven into every detail.

The West African cuisine was phenomenal—rich, flavorful, comforting, and made with so much care. Every bite felt soulful and nourishing, the kind of food that feeds more than just your appetite. You can truly taste the pride and tradition behind it.

The service was outstanding—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. It wasn’t just great customer service; it felt like community. Add that to the incredible vibe and thoughtfully designed space, and it made the entire experience unforgettable.

ChopnBlok isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a feeling, a gathering place, a celebration. I would absolutely go back and recommend it without hesitation. If you’re looking for amazing food, beautiful energy, and a space that feels like home, this is it.

This was my first time trying African food, and I was honestly surprised by how good it was. The flavors were amazing. It was a little pricey, but the quality and taste made it worth it. I can’t wait to visit the actual restaurant and try more dishes.

This past Saturday, I visited ChòpnBlọk and ordered the Golden entree with steak, chicken, and shrimp, along with a Redbush Sidecar. The food and drinks were excellent, as the restaurant is recommended by the Michelin guide. Since it was my first visit, I asked my bartender for some suggestions, but because it was her first week, she wasn’t very well-informed. I suggest giving new employees a tasting menu with information on popular dishes and drinks to help with customer questions. I appreciated her honesty. I also think it would be helpful to include South African wines on the menu, with pairing suggestions for the entrees. Additionally, I would like to see some drinks made with black-owned spirits, considering the decor and food influences. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

A great place to experience West African cuisine. I love the Suya, coconut bites (chicken) and the Cameroonian shrimp are all good. The drinks are great also. The Golden bowl is a favorite as well as the Buka bowl. The warm banana bread with fresh strawberries is a great way to finish. I have been here several times and will definitely be back.

Celebrated my cousins birthday here and had an amazing experience. Complimentary valet, clean establishment, great friendly service, affordable and good quality food. The flavors were on point! The server was knowledgeable of the menu and ingredients. We brought a cake and they offered to put it in the chiller for us and even provided a lighter for the candles. Go Food came out quickly and we did not feel rushed. Definitely made us comfortable! 10/10 highly recommend.

Food is a certified crowd pleaser! The textures, flavors, and colors are so beautiful and well integrated into the “Golden bowl” my go to meal. The coconut curry is perfection, I always get an extra side of plantains always tender & sweet never green. The chicken is juicy and well seasoned the rice is delicious and well portioned. This plate never misses & I always have a little extra which tastes great even when reheated hours later. Needless to say the service here is always top notch ! Friendly and knowledgeable of the menu:) Much love <3

Good flavor, small portion, bad service.
We arrived without reservation, was told a wait time of 45 minutes. Totally fair. However, we were asked to wait at the entrance to the restroom. Do you want to write down my name? No. Can you text us when the table is ready? No. Can we wait outside? No. It’s kind of awkward to stand in front of the restroom for 45 minutes. So we decide to try another location at Post. No line, yeah. The cashier was in bad mood. (Sorry for her. ) No greeting, no smile, not a word but just stared at us. Fine, we are here for food not your smile. Ordered Motherland vegetarian version and Trad chicken version. The bill was $45 (not including tax and tip yet) and we got side order size of 2 bowels of curry over rice ( yeah, there are vegetables and 5 slices of chicken breast).
The flavor was soooo good. Smoky hint in the rice, tender distinguish African curry sauce that awake our taste palettes.
Was the food good, yes. Was it a good experience, no. Will we go back, no.

Service was quick at Chopnblok! Food came out fast.

Ordered the Trad and it was delicious! Includes jollof jambalaya, chicken, stewed plantains, & yaji veggies. The meat pie minnies were also tasty!

Motherland is a vegetarian option. Curry flavor was ok.

Overall a nice place in the POST to grab a quick meal.

This place is deserving of its James Beard award. I got this at the Post food vendor market.

I ordered the trad bowl. It came with smoked jollof jambalaya, chicken, thank veggies and stewed plantains. It was so good! The spices and herbs were very prominent and complemented all the food in the bowl. The chicken was very tender and seasoned very well! The staff was very nice and they have samples for you to try. I tried the motherland curry and it was very good! I’ll have to come back to try the motherland or golden bowl.

The atmoshere is very much a lively food court but with more neon lights and open light which makes for nice place to eat.
