We arrived very early for dinner, and no one was in. However people were picking up to go orders constantly so we knew the food would be good. And it was. We decided, for our first visit, to try the non-vegetarian meal for two and it was perfect. The cumin chips were crispy and light. The Samosas were delicious. The tomato curry and spinach curry were perfect. The rice was good, but the naan was stand out. Of course it was more food than two people could eat so we had leftovers. We will return and try more dishes!

Perfectly good, although not stunning, I definitely recommend the appetizers and the mango lassi. The biggest downside for me is that virtually none of the decor and certainly none of the music is Indian. Even the billfold with the check at the end of the meal has the name of a different restaurant on it, so I assume that a lot of the decoration just wasn’t changed when it became an Indian restaurant. Nonetheless, I have enjoyed both times I dined there. I will definitely be coming back. Probably the best Indian food you can get in Southern Illinois without traveling to St Louis

I went to this restaurant on Saturday, February 1, 2025, around 8 pm.
I was disappointed to see the dining room with 6 dirty tables that were never cleaned the entirety of my visit.
Service was lacking due to the fact that only 3 employees were working: 2 kitchen staff and 1 waitress. The kitchen was busy with togo orders and dining room orders. The food took a while to be served.
The food incomparison to other Indian restaurants was average. The rice was good. The portion size was small to average. The restaurant was out of the appetizers I wanted. The flavors of the butter chicken and chicken Tikka marsala were good but didn’t have the bold robust flavor other restaurants offer. I do not recommend the goat dishes. All the goat is served with bone, that is the only option. 80% of what I was served was bone, very little meat. The meat on the bone had a lot of gristle and was not tender. The l
flavor was good, though.
There was plenty of parking, and despite being an open dining room, the background noise and conversations we not intrusive.
All in all, it was a fair experience. I’ll give it another go… hopefully, they are better staffed.

I had an amazing experience at Taj Indian Cuisine. The butter chicken was incredibly creamy, the naan was soft and fresh, and the biryani had the perfect amount of spice. The staff treated us like family and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving real Indian flavors!

I had an amazing experience at the Taj restaurant last night. The butter chicken was incredibly flavorful and rich, perfectly complemented by the soft, fluffy naan. The samosas were crispy and delicious, and I also loved the variety of flavorful marinades. On top of that, the service was outstanding, making the whole dining experience truly memorable. Highly recommend!

We recently visited during Diwali and were greeted kindly and enjoyed the atmosphere of the holiday through music. We mentioned that I needed to be Gluten Free and they were very knowledgeable and accommodating, bringing me special items on the vegetarian “For 2” menu that we ordered. They even went to extra trouble to keep the gluten items far from me when serving. The food was delicious, made fresh to order at your preferred spice level and it was obvious that special care was taken with our food. We’ll definitely go back! (You can see the GF round pakora compared to the regular purse shaped gluten pakora in my photos.)
