Our hearts tonight were set on the brisket, however the 1897 BBQ crew had an unfortunate for us no brisket on the menu tonight and we were unable to try the brisket.
Now this slight breach of bbq etiquette enabled our small group to try the ribs.
The Mrs went for ribs, jalepeno mac and cheese and the spoon bread. I was a bit more adventurous and went for the two meat plate consisting of pulled pork, ribs, jalepeno mac and cheese and spoon bread. Our friends choose wisely and split a two meat plate. Their plate was the pulled pork, smoked chicken, green beans and jalepeno mac and cheese.
The ribs were spot on fantastic with a very light smoke flavor, bones pulled away cleanly and easily. Meat was tender and delicious.
The pulled pork, the basis of any BBQ place was also spot on, light smoke flavor, tasty and sauce not needed.
The smoked chicken was flavorful and again with a light hint of smoke.
Our friends grabbed a special treat of the peanut butter cheese cake. This dessert was awesome as well.
As a special treat we got a giant chocolate chip cookie. The desserts were awesome.
The facility was clean and enjoyable to be in.
The bar area was cool. The overall vibe was cool and laid back.
The service from the 1897 crew was fantastic.
We look forward to returning to this establishment for another awesome dinner.
Our friend we had with us got the pulled pork sandwich and he devoured his food! He did try the spicy BBQ and he said it was lovely with a nice slow warmth coming from the back. The best bbq he has had in a while too.
Me.. I’m always a scaredy cat when it comes to food. I tend to stick to my normals and don’t stray much.. Last night was no exception. I ordered the sharable nachos with pulled pork.
Fantastic. I didn’t have a drop of fat in my pulled pork which I personally have issues with, which made me extremely happy! The only complaint that I have is I wish with nachos that places would love the bottom layer of chips as well. I hate getting almost done with my nachos and I have a host of dry nachos at the bottom. No queso no pork… They are sad. They should feel love too!
The space is laid out nicely and the atmosphere top notch. Waitress were much friendlier than several other resturants. There is a small incline in the floor as you go further back to the rear of the resturant towards the restrooms. The entire place is handicap accessible. Which gets extra bonus points in my opinion! As we are always on the lookout for places to bring our elderly parents who are in chairs. They have bar seating, booths and tables. Tables are excellent for wheelchair users and persons of size (like myself). I will say that the booths were ‘movable’ and I had plenty of room as a big girl!
The restrooms were very clean and large.
We were so blown away by the food quality and quantity and taste WE FORGOT TO TAKE PICTURES!!!!!!!!!! That’s saying something!!
I brought the whole family there and we enjoyed a really good meal. We had brisket, pulled pork, and the brisket nachos! They had plenty of drinks, beer, wine, seltzers, etc.
Their sides were top-notch.
I forgot to ask if they catered, but this would be a great place to have at your next event. And
