I loved the chicken wings so much last time that I came back today to try more dishes, and I’m glad I did.
From the first bite, it was clear that this place isn’t just a passion project; you can really taste the chef’s genuine skill and the years of experience behind the food!
The Guo Bao Pork was the highlight. It’s hard to find a truly great version in Baltimore, but this one was excellent– crispy, flavorful, and not soggy at all, even by the last bite.
The chicken wing sauce was well-balanced and not too heavy, and it kept making me want to mix it with rice.
The seasoning on the clam dish was also spot-on and I ended up finishing all the rice.
We ordered the sugar donut toward the end, and I highly recommend eating it as soon as it comes out. I always try sugar donuts when a place offers them, and this one tasted light and fresh, like it was fried in really clean oil.
Our server was incredibly warm and attentive, and after chatting briefly with the owner, Eric, it all made sense why the food is so good. This is a place run by people who have truly spent their lives cooking, and that level of care really shows. These are dishes you just can’t recreate at home, which is why I’ll happily keep coming back.
We also had a large group, including toddlers, and the restaurant was really accommodating for our party. I would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back already!
But the real surprise? The sugar donuts — light, fluffy, and addictively good. You must get them, even if you’re full. Trust me.
Service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance strikes a great balance between cozy and elegant. Already planning my next visit!
The rice is soooo good! Definitely going back to try other things.
I enjoyed the food so much that I ordered takeout four days later! I had no problem calling on the phone and placing my order. The chef waited until I showed up for my order to finish cooking the dishes, which was great because this food is meant to be eaten when it’s straight off the pan — and I only had to wait about 5 minutes. This time, I got the spicy pepper stir fry tofu, which includes dried tofu sheets (so hard to find this on menus that cater just to those unfamiliar with authentic Chinese food!), and the walnut shrimp. Again, both dishes were delicious.
I can’t wait to try the whole menu! (And note: the authentic dishes are pretty friendly to unfamiliar palates anyway, but they do have an Americanized Chinese food menu for the less adventurous.) Please support this local father-daughter-run business — it’s such a sweet story, and the food will blow you away!
The flavor was just average and not authentic Chinese food. If you’re looking for a genuine Chinese dining experience, this is not the place.
