Update:
To the owner, thanks for reaching out. Says a lot as most don’t give a crap and it’s appreciated. But really no need to contact you as I didn’t have a bad experience. Like I said in original post the pizza was good, just too expensive for me. Obviously others don’t think so which is good. This is why I love the free market.

Original:
It is good…. but it ain’t that good. In my opinion, way overpriced for what I got.

On top of that the young gal taking orders had her head leaned on her hand resting against her elbow which was resting against the counter. Not holding this against Johnny’s as I feel this is today’s youth from poor parenting. Just unfortunate to see and something to think about.

I can honestly say that I enjoyed this pizza. Being vegan they get the one up for having vegan cheese. I was also able to create my own pie, which turned out good. The highlight of my pizza was how well charred the undercarriage and crust were. I could have literally ate that by itself. The cheese was also melted very well, without compromising the ingredients on the pizza. I can’t give it a 5, because it didn’t wow me, but it was a quality pizza given it being vegan. The artichoke could’ve been a little more crisp, and the jalapeños slightly more cooked. But all in all, if I’m ever back around this way, I plan to come back and try other food.

Con: The add on ingredient price, was slightly pricey.

Having been born and raised in New York City, I am very VERY particular about my pizza. While I do partake of the chain restaurants, they do not compare to well made, homemade pizza. Since coming to North Carolina, it is rare that I came across a pizzeria that I like. Well, Johnny’s Pizza in Wake Forest far surpassed any other pizza shop I have eaten at in NC.

First, the restaurant was spacious and super clean providing a nice atmosphere for dining. Second, the staff were welcoming and accommodating. After sharing it was our first time visiting, they took the time to review the menu with my party and make recommendations, while still taking care of their other patrons.

Lastly, but certainly not the least of these points, was the food itself. Anytime I visit someplace new, I purchase the base item or my favorite item for that restaurant type because if that’s not right I can’t imagine much else would be. I ordered a plain cheese slice from Johnny’s and was transported home. It was thin with a crispy bottom crust. With the sauce and the cheese…all together tasted delicious! I also ordered potato skins, and those added to my joy. They were perfectly cooked. They left a good amount of potato so you actually tasted it, and they packed it with plenty of bacon and cheese. Topped with the ranch sauce made for an excellent bite.

I can’t wait to go back and try one of their pasta dishes and their Chicago and Sicilian style pies.

The food was really good and food came out quickly.

It’s in a shopping plaza with a grocery store so there is more than enough parking.

It was really hot in there so eating there might not be very comfortable especially if it’s a hot day.

Prices are reasonable and you can order by the slice if you would like.

Everyone behind the counter was really nice and they do bring the food to your table.

It’s mostly a take out place, only a few tables are provided for convenient to eat in. No table service. They do deliver your food but it’s self serve otherwise. The large pizza we got was huge to no wonder the high price. But had leftovers for a second meal. Had a meat lovers that was fairly well covered. I’d call it decent Northeast style pizza. Great, no. Horrible, no. Sauce could use a seasoning boost and fairly generic meats would not stand out and make you say wow that a really good xyz. But it’s as good as any typical pizza just not a stand out. They tossed in a few fried ravioli as an app – never had before, tasted fine, tomato dipping sauce seemed a tad more flavorful than on the pizza but suspect it’s the same sauce just maybe some flavor gets flattened out in the pizza oven. Overall, I’d go back for take out and try a Chicago style or sub maybe. Pretty big menu. Staff was young but they were nice.

Being next door to Johnny’s Pizza is both a blessing and a temptation—and I’m not complaining one bit! The slice I had was massive, perfectly cheesy, and had just the right amount of crisp on the crust. The pepperoni was flavorful with just the right amount of bite, and the whole thing tasted fresh and satisfying. You can really tell they care about quality. With amazing service and pizza this good just steps away, Johnny’s has definitely become a favorite!

I just received a call from the owner. A very unexpected and pleasant surprise! He went above and beyond the call of duty! He made a very nice donation to the Salvation Army as a means of making everything right! I differently will try Jonny’s Pizza again. I am much impressed!

Very disappointed. Ordered deep dish pizza delivered (for Ron – my husband). 45 minutes late. Pizza only luke warm when finally delivered and got cold. Very skippy on ingredients and not spread out properly. I do not think the crust was fully cooked, tasted overly bready. PS – I have lived in Chicago and ate more than once at the two top deep dish pizza places there. Johny’s does not come anywhere close. Would I order from them again? a resounding Nevermore.
