My friends and I had lunch there today after seeing the owners on the local TV Channel 4. The food spread looked delicious even on TV! we definitely wanted to go.
They did not disappoint!
Young lady server was friendly, patience and got all of our orders right!.
The food was so so good nicely seasoned and spicy. Everything was fresh from the kitchen in ample amounts.
The prices were priced affordable and fair to market.
They have an outdoor area street view that’s nice too.
The street is one way… free parking is on the side street.
I told the owner we saw him & his wife on Channel 4 morning news. He was happy we came to “support”

They got something good with their shredded chicken tacos! Seasoned very well. I came in 20 minutes until closing for carry out – and the lady at the front was super nice and accommodating. The one star removal is because the biarria* taco didn’t have much flavor- just tasted like oil. But overall-fast, tasty and does what it should!

Was out house hunting in the area with moms and stumbled on this spot, not far from where she grew up on the North End. Ended up being one of the best decisions of the day. Everything here is made from scratch and you can taste it…fresh, legit, and done right. The crew was laid-back, and one of the owners happened to be there. He shared his journey of bringing this place to the west side near Virginia Park/New Center.
I ordered an omelet and it was excellent. Normally I don’t trust breakfast potatoes–they’re usually filler–but these converted me. Seasoned right, crispy edges, and I actually finished them. That says a lot.
If you’re in the area, J&T’s Kitchen is worth checking out. Solid food, good people, and a real Detroit hustle.

This is a great family type place. It is in the middle of a neighborhood. Small with a family feel. Eat at the picnic tables or bring a blanket for the park next door.
I will call the menu a Mexican food with a twist. The place is clean and has covered outdoor picnic tables. Food was good but wish it had a few mor flavors in it. Maybe a little hot sauce or pico de gallo should be great.
I’m sure over time this place will continue to improve. We love the convenience because it close to our family’s home. We live in California but visit often. so we will be back. I look forward to our return and my updated review.
