It’s good. I do not eat lobster or seafood my husband loves the lobsters he says they’re great! Great happy hour many options for delicious appetizers. The staff is wonderful, so friendly and attentive even when they’re busy. Great bartenders as well, it’s a lively spot to hang out and long time staple … I would call it a historic icon of Port Jeff! Things to note… bring cash, you order your food and drinks at the bar and pay and then a server will bring them to you. So note which table you would like to sit at and let them know at the bar. Bring back the basketball hoops machine!

Great prices and food was pretty good! Only complaint is as soon as my party and I walked in, the busboy (didn’t get his name but older man with a lazy eye) scolded my 14 year old brother to let him know he couldn’t bring a water bottle inside and that he needed to get rid of it. The principal is fine but was very rude about it and he is lucky I had some patience but almost lost it. He needs to learn how to speak to customers. Only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars, we almost walked out because of that interaction.

Service here is very inconsistent. One of the bartenders, a young woman with green eyes who usually works weekends during the day, is consistently rude and impatient. I’ve seen her treat multiple customers this way, not just me. Her attitude makes the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
Food and beer are good. Cocktails are not. The place itself is nothing special, but that’s expected for a dive bar. The main issue is the service, which really needs attention.

We went today with family members who hadn’t been back since the 80s, and wow—what an experience. It felt like stepping into a time capsule in the best possible way. Somehow, you’ve stayed immune to inflation, and that alone left us stunned. The food was incredible, the service was just as amazing, and we spent the rest of the night in absolute awe of what we had just eaten—and what it cost. It brought back a flood of memories for my older brother, who hadn’t been there in years, and you could see how much it meant to him. Thank you for staying true to who you are, for not changing, and for continuing to be such a cherished staple in our community. ❤️

My 1st time here on Saturday. Definitely a different experience service wise . No waitress just the food runner . Everything had to be ordered at the bar in cash . Male bartender was friendly and food runner was too . Even for a simple glass of water you need to get yourself at the bar . Food was definitely tasty and portions were good. I definitely would be back . Many college kids there but a mixed crowd when it comes to age . Limited seating , definitely something to get used too ordering food wise . Definitely check it out!!

Tara’s has unbelievably excellent food for an unbelievably affordable price. Our server, and everyone else I interacted with here, employees and other customers, were friendly and laid back. This place is a legend and a gem on Long Island. It’s unpretentious, old school and I still love it. I can’t drink alcohol right now but if I could, I would definitely do so here again. I’ve been here several times in the past for food and drink, and many times when I was a kid. One thing to keep in mind: Tara Inn is cash only, though they do have an ATM machine that charges $3 per transaction. Also, I miss RC Cola being served here. Tara’s is where I first began my love of RC, when I was a kid. Definitely check this place out if you’ve never been here.

$12 Lobster comes with a bowl of soup. I have been coming here for years. Comfortable setting. Lots of tvs. They come around with a bag after you order your drink. You put your hand and pull out a token, could be free or have price. $1 Burger. It’s not BK or MDs it’s better comes w/lettuce and tomato and the . Cool place to bring a date.
