Perfect eggs. The waiter could tell I really didn’t want hashbrowns and encouraged me to choose something else. The tots were the best ever! Perfectly golden. Perfect sourdough toast. The waiter was kind and hospitable. This diner was shipped in by rail from Maryland. The RR owns it and the TravelLodge next door. Looking at additional Penny’s Diner & TravelLodge combos, they appear near Los Angeles and Houston to name a few. I’ve always wanted to stop in and am so glad I did!

So 2 years old we came here and loved it. We decided to come back today after fishing all day. We will never go here again. The waitress never checked on us but to get our order and serve our food. The country fried chicken is literally two pieces of frozen chicken deep fried ( like if its out of a bag) the mac & cheese was so hard my husband couldnt even eat it. Then the other server was outside most of the time while the other server was having to serve the whole restaurant. It was a bad experience all the way around. I’m a server and i would not recommend this place to ANYONE.

This is a 24 hour diner that is part of the nieghboring hotel. The food here was good and the ladies that were working were friendly. The decor of the diner was spot on. Guest that needed to check in after hours would do so at the diner.

This was our first time to Penny’s Diner as we were traveling through Virginia. Jose, our waitor was great. The staff were very friendly. The vibe was awesome, a true classic diner inside and out. The food was typical fare, but it was really good. They had their menu on a QR code scan, but if you look above you, you can see the menu written on the dry-erase board on the ceiling. If you’re traveling along the interstate through Virginia, it’s worth a stop.

Though the food was a bit off (*1) the morning of our visit I still kinda dig this place. It has a lot of potential. And it’s located is beautiful. Also, the host/waitress was as sweet as she could be. We will definitely give it another try.

(*1) The wife and I like our hash-browns very crispy, and we shared that with the waitress. Unfortunately the cook didn’t prepare them that way. As a matter of fact, they were actually a little underdone. Same thing with the toast… Could’ve used another 30 seconds in the toaster.

Service was fast and attentive. Coffee was so-so. My husband liked his burger. I got biscuits and gravy and a piece of ham with 2 eggs. The eggs were cooked correctly as I ordered. B&G wasn’t the best, just packet country gravy with no sausage in it. The diner was clean, as well as the restrooms.

Cute restaurant and easy access to the highway. But please cook the hash browns- I prefer my potatoes hot and browned instead of cold. Also noticed this is a trend because I saw a previous review with the same problem. Pancakes were tough. They did have good wheat toast. Very little checking in after food is served. Had to ask for sugar for my coffee and butter.

I wish I could give the food 6 stars. Honestly some of the best food I’ve had in months. Gives a real 50s diner feel. Do yourself a favor if you are in the area and stop in. It’s worth it.

I’ve been eating here every chance I get. I swear it keeps getting better. I wish I could try something new but what I’ve already ordered is so good it’s hard to try what has to be a menu full of delicious items.
