Been to the establishment a couple times, good atmosphere nice people. No music? Food lacks a bit on flavor but is overall decent. Didn’t see a frituras menu, odd for being a Spanish restaurant. Barely parking out front but they do have a garage parking out back- bit creepy…

The food here was amazing! 5 stars. We were passing through Reading and we love mofongo so decided to give this place a try. I got the shrimp ceviche, a pina colada and a ham and cheese mofongo. Everything was so delicious! The staff even brought over crayons and a paper for my toddler towards the end of the meal when she was starting to get restless. I appreciate that they anticipated our needs. Would definitely go back! The location was super pretty and fun too.

First issue we had was our server she was VERY INATTENTIVE! We had to ask for water 4 times before she even bought it to the table. She took our order brought our food to the table and the check other than that she didn’t come to even ask if we need anything but you could see her and the other waitress standing behind the bar talking needless to say the restaurant was not busy and we visited on a Wednesday afternoon. The cheap chips and salsa was definitely a miss the chips was stale and the salsa you could tell was from the jar. The food was fresh the Chimichurri sauce was amazing and paired well with the skirt steak the Mofongo was not dry it was well seasoned. Fried snapper was good as well. Overall the food was good but the service sucks and that can make a customer not want to return!

I did love the vibe and the fact that the music wasn’t blasting. Family friendly. Food wise: rice could’ve been fresher. The flan was overcooked and tasted too much like eggs.

This restaurant gives feelings of home cooking in Puerto Rico. I imagine it’s what dinner tastes like Mom’s kitchen. Hearty, delicious and filling. I’ve only been here twice but both times I felt welcomed and greeted with a smile. I never had a problem parking and always got a spot out front. It is metered. Can’t wait to go back and try something new.

If you’re looking for some delicious homemade Puerto Rican/Dominican food you MUST visit the “Mofongo Restaurant” in Reading!! The food is Scrumptiously Delicious!!! Excellent friendly service, nicely priced, all sorts of traditional desserts, full bar (my virgin Pina Colada was Yummy!), microbrewery for those that prefer beer and to top it off, Free parking!! We can’t wait to go back!

This review hopefully is for educational purposes for the owner.
Unfortunately for people that have never been to DR or PR and truly tried the food this is FAR from the real deal. Being Puerto Rican myself and having been from a small kiosk to a 5-star restaurant I can say they still have a long way to go. Let’s start by saying that our waitress was not attentive at all. I don’t wish to say her name (this is not to embarrass her). If you are an establishment that only has canned products your servers should offer water (free of charge). Puertorrican and Dominican are by nature EXCELLENT hosts (please do better). As well if you are making homemade food( comida criolla) where is the plantain soup? Fritters like bacalaitos(cod fritters) and alcapurrias (stuffed fritters)? There are so many things you can do to make this better. There is potential to do great. My mofongo was very overcooked, the salad you can tell is from a bag and the only fresh were the tomatoes. If you are going to serve a complimentary snack PLEASE don’t serve TOSTITOS AND SALSA. That is NOT a snack you want to serve in a restaurant. If chips are a thing, you can do plantain chips and chimi salsa. Prices are extremely high and only saw my actual server 3 times, 1 was for the drinks, and the other for the check. We asked her for 1 extra dish so it could be an appetizer (we saw they had an authentic Dominican plate) they had no appetizers and she replied that they had none left. To our surprise, the next table was getting what we wanted. You can imagine the big disappointment. And let’s not even talk about the bathroom not having a proper way to close it.
I can’t say I will never go back.
Hopefully, several years from now if I see they have gotten better I will change my review but for now. THIS IS IT

EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT, the salsa however was suspect. It was okay but I don’t think freshly made. Maybe bottled.
The mofongo with shrimp and garlic sauce was as good as it gets. Tres leches cake was almost as good as it gets. Platanos were perfect.
