I would give the chef behind the sushi bar 10 stars if I can! It’s absolutely the highlight of our trip in Denver. We ordered omakase, and the fish are so fresh. The chef told us most of the fish are from Japan by air, so it’s amazingly fresh and delicious. Salmon belly was from Scotland, omg the taste was rich. We absolutely enjoyed the meal, and everyone was extremely friendly. We will for sure be back. Do not pass on this best Japanese restaurant in Denver area!

The omakase dishes were incredibly flavorful and varied with each bite. Some just instantly melt in your mouth (super white tuna was a favorite of mine). Others were charred or glazed, adding more layers of flavor and texture. None of the added ingredients felt like it overpowered the fish either. Pair that with a a bottle of sake and you’re guaranteed to have a lovely night. The atmosphere is also pleasant and bright yet relaxing. The servers are also great and very thoughtful, making sure we were never with empty glasses and keeping the table clear as new dishes were being served. Overall, we had a fantastic night and would come back again.

Amazing sushi spot! The fish is super fresh — honestly comparable to what I had in Japan. The flavors are well-balanced, and every bite tastes clean and delicious. Great service and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Definitely one of the best American-style Japanese restaurants I’ve been to!

I would have given a better rating if me and my husband werent wedged in a corner at the bar with the fan blowing right on us after coming in from the cold so I have to say we were pretty uncomfortable. Though, the food was pretty good and like how much effort they put into presentation.

My husband and I tried Makizushico for the first time last week and loved everything we ordered. We eat sushi frequently but this is definitely at the top of our list now! We definitely will come back to try the omakase. We ordered the jalapeño bluefin tuna appetizer and the sashimi was melt in your mouth. We also ordered the Totoro roll and another special roll (something with mango and tempura shrimp) which were both very good, we ended up ordering another Totoro roll. We also ate the mackerel, wagyu and chu toro nigiri which were all delicious, then finished off the meal with chu toro sashimi! The chu toro was our favorite but everything was great.

Excellent place. We tried a wide variety of dishes and everything was consistently great. The food is fresh, well prepared, and full of flavor, with clear attention to quality across the menu. Nothing felt rushed or careless, even when ordering many different items.
Service was smooth and attentive, and the overall atmosphere makes it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. This is the kind of place where you feel confident trying new dishes because the execution is reliable. Definitely a spot worth coming back to.

Restaurant is on the smaller side, so good idea to get a reservation. I came in on a Thursday night at 7:15 and it was full. Excellent omakase with a wide variety of nigiri and some other dishes. Pork belly buns were also a tasty treat. The service is very good, though the pacing of the omakase was a bit slow. I will certainly be returning again soon.

Overall a good experience. The only areas they need to improve on are the water sinces it’s warm and not chilled. The food was great but the sushi portions were to small. 2 is fine, but the size for each is halved so they try to earn more money off of each one. The Eel was a good size though.
