Absolutely fantastic! This is a new franchise for me, and upon hearing hat the manager gifted me a bottle of their amazing bbq sauce. The food was epic. Best okra Ive found in Louisana. Those ribs… wow. The pulled and sliced pork were smoked lerfection. Like bbq suace? They have four types! A very clean aestetic, good branding, 5 star food, reasonable prices, and a quality staff. Erika was super friendly and was the perfect personality for this great place. Loved it, will be back.

The Sonny’s BBQ in Gonzales is one of the new design restaurant for Sonny’s. They have very good barbecue but also serve alcohol and have a drive through. My burned ends were tasty and my wife enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich. Our server was friendly and attentive and the employees were dressed for Halloween. A fun meal.

Sonny’s doesn’t disappoint. We aren’t spoiled for choice when it comes to BBQ in this part of the world, so when they built a Sonny’s within shouting distance of home, I knew it would be such a trip down memory lane back to growing up in central Florida and eating Sonny’s all the time with my best friend. The corn fritters with powdered sugar? The same as always.

Building is nice, simple, and spacious. I like the color scheme…gives you the full effect. The food was good. I enjoyed the potato salad most. The broccoli was plain and maybe could have gone a little longer. The chicken could have gone longer as well, for sight’s sake. Ashley was my server both times. She is pleasant and helpful.

Pros: menu is good. Prices are fair. Waitress was friendly. The sweet tea was great! Atmosphere was great too.
Cons: 2 meat plates -brisket and sausage. Serving size was just right. Brisket was COLD. Like still cold from fridge. We went at 11:15 on 8/5. We prefer marble or moist brisket as it’s called here. They only have it in chopped not sliced. So maybe that’s our preference. The sausage was not completely sliced so we had to ask for a knife. Hint: if you sell meat there should be knives in your silverware.
We didn’t send it back because we are weary of angry cooks so we took it to go to heat up at home.
Beans were super sweet. Like they were doused with extra brown sugar.
Mac and cheese was like cafeteria style. Feel they could come up with better recipe for Mac and cheese.

Gave the restaurant another shot. Was let down. Had wings as an appetizer, and while they looked promising, they were undercooked. Moving to the entree, I had the chopped brisket and smoked chicken. The chicken was tough because it wasn’t cooked through. I pulled the chicken apart and gave up trying to eat it because there was so much pink. They need to take more time cooking their chicken before they give people salmonella. Photos uploaded.

The food was par. I had the loaded tots with pulled pork as an appetizer. It was probably the best thing of the night. Could’ve used more cheese. This is the second time here, and the second time without brisket. The restaurant has been without brisket twice now that I’ve visited. I had the pulled pork sandwich on garlic toast as entree with a side of baked beans. The sandwich had to be slathered in BBQ Sauce to be edible. The sandwich was very dry without the sauce. The meat didn’t have much flavor. I thought the baked beans were hard and couldve been cooked down some. The atmosphere was cool. No music, live or overhead speakers. The service was okay. Bill came with incorrect items on it, so make sure you double check. Apparently, they’ve been having issues with the system.

Sonny’s BBQ was clean, fast and friendly, our waitress was Hursh. The food was the best bar b que (smoked) in Louisiana that I have eaten at. We had the baby back ribs, chopped pork, brisket with fried okra, coleslaw slaw and baked beans. The bread was outstanding. The water was in an extra large glass, I loved that! My favorite was the brisket and second was the ribs. I recommend this place, excellent! They have been open since July 2024.

I had the absolute pleasure of dining in today and was pleasantly surprised. This was my first time and was I impressed. The food was unparalleled in flavor and in quality. Ms. Cathy was my waitress and she was outstanding. She was very attentive, focused on my needs and kept me without wanting to. I loved the food, the flavors, the tenderness of the meats and the service. Will return.
