Don’t be fooled by the name it is not Catalonian cuisine, the name from the previous Patron. Before 1860 from Nice to Menton was Italian. So here is a wonderful mix of Franco-Italian. The vegetarian pizza I had was loaded with fresh grilled vegetables a la Maison. So full of flavour, the tomatoe sauce was rich and bursting with Summer. I have no idea how this Pizza Master managed such a thin and crispy crust with all the toppings without getting “soggy bottom. But instead of the normal pesto it was the Nice Niçoise version called ‘pistou’. Pistou not having the pine nuts and a dialling up the garlic. It was so good I went to the kitchen and hugged the chef. The terrace is in a beautiful street and inside also has a beautiful ambiance. The server was kind and attentive and the 25cl carafe of rosé “a quater” of a litre was very fairly priced as it should be in the South of France. Not to mention the superb olive oil, a large fresh bottle right beside the table to splash over the quality bread. No cheap baguettes here, a sour dough and multi-grained version was generously offered in a paper bag. I wanted to take it home. I could have made a meal just with these quality ingredients. Lastly it is directly at the base of the stairs of Beaulieau Gare train station so even if staying in other places along the riviera easy to get to and worth the trip. Note booking needed for the terrace, which is in no doubt considering the quality and extremely fair prices. Fish and meats also offered, it’s not just pizzas. On the evening we were there,
they offered grilled fresh swordfish for the plat du jour – dish of the day. Note ‘fresh’ not frozen. Very enjoyable and easy place.

Lovely bistro in the centre of town. Excellent value dishes of the day. Cold beer on tap and good wines. The bread was very good. The Il flottante is highly recommended. Warm, friendly staff. We preferred this place to the expensive waterside restaurants.

La Catalana was recommended from our hotel, they served us such a delicious meal and each portion was big. We really enjoyed the food and service here, we went back the next day for lunch.

The best beef tartare I have even tried, i was a little bit sceptic before ordering it, but I dont regret it at all.
Fresh and very tasty, delicious.
Staff is nice and polite.
