We went on Valentine’s Day with a reservation called in 5 days ahead of time. We got there a half hour before our reservation since our movie ended early. We figured we’d check in then grab a drink at the bar while we wait. It was real busy and you could tell based on the size of the crowd and the looks on the employees’ faces.
It took over 10 minutes (in the non-existent waiting area next to the freezing door) just for one of the hostesses to say hello to us. We told her we had a reservation but were a bit early. She told us to hold on because she was helping some other folks and I told her to take her time.
The other hostess came over about 5-10 min later and took our name and we told her we’d wait in the bar until they are ready. We went to the bar and received excellent service, but you could see everyone besides the bartender seemed completely lost.
We finally ended up getting sat at a table 20 minutes after our reservation. That didn’t bother us at all, but should be noted. Unfortunately, they sat us right next to that freezing door that people were in and out of every 30 seconds. We asked to move to another table they just cleared off, and I told them it’s totally fine if it wasn’t an option. The hostess said it was fine and we moved.
We waited about 10-15 minutes and never got greeted. We flagged a hostess and told her we were waiting. She ran off to grab a server. We waited another 5-10 before leaving.
I used to be a server/bartender myself so I know it’s not easy, but the management in this restaurant is horrific… if there even is a manager. The poor hostesses are outworking everyone because they are both bussing, helping clean the bar, stocking the server station, and getting waters for tables. It might be better to have a busser, or at least have one hostess stay at the podium at all times so one person (plus a manager) handles the seating.
The taller hostess there that night obviously seemed flustered but did a great job being friendly, keeping her cool, and was busting her butt the entire time, so kudos to her. Seriously, that girl deserves a raise. They need to clean up the front of house bad. We probably won’t go back there until we see a sign indicating there is new management.
Service was less than one would expect at a dinner service… Reaching across and in front of people to hand the guest their plate is something I would expect at a hash house, but dinner where there is plenty of room to get to each guest is just lazy. She never introduced herself so I had to ask on our way out who our server was … I would go back for the food and we all agreed if Kelly was not our server it would have been a very pleasant experience…
Suddenly, and conveniently, our food came out the moment we said we were done waiting. It was cold, rushed, and clearly sitting somewhere for who knows how long. No apology. No explanation. No acknowledgment of the delays at any point.
Being busy is not an excuse for ignoring guests. Valentine’s Day is not a surprise on the calendar, yet this place was completely unprepared. If you can’t handle a holiday crowd, don’t take the reservations.
Wasted time, wasted money, and a ruined evening. Do not recommend.
1. I do not blame the servers or bartenders about our experience as they did the best they could with the unorganization. I blame the ownership and management, explicitly. 3:00 Reservation on Thanksgiving and didn’t get seated until 4:15. 10 of our party of 19 had to leave as we were seated so they could not enjoy the Thanksgiving.
2. When 2 of us tried speaking with the manager after 45 minutes waiting a call came in and she took the call as if our needs were not important. It was about securing more reservations and anything to collect the next dollar.
3. My wife and I were beyond frustrated at this point so we fortunately decided on splitting a burger which was decent, but fries were uncooked. The rest of our table ordered the turkey special for $37.50/each and other than the pies, it was awful!
4. To make matters worse — slammed wall to wall with people for holiday dining and they STILL accepted take out take out orders where door dash and Ubers were waiting and ON THANKSGIVING!
Their main goal was very clear. It was not about making the holiday experience a success for the patron, but get in as many as they can to make a buck. Like I said — this was all on ownership down to management. We will not spend another penny in that place based on that selfish business model alone.
Mercy on the servers and bartenders that put up with working there!
