My wife and I have been here a handful of times and it’s always an odd experience. The food is always real good but the service ranges between not so good to us having to file a missing person report for our server.

We went on Valentine’s Day with a reservation called in 5 days ahead of time. We got there a half hour before our reservation since our movie ended early. We figured we’d check in then grab a drink at the bar while we wait. It was real busy and you could tell based on the size of the crowd and the looks on the employees’ faces.

It took over 10 minutes (in the non-existent waiting area next to the freezing door) just for one of the hostesses to say hello to us. We told her we had a reservation but were a bit early. She told us to hold on because she was helping some other folks and I told her to take her time.

The other hostess came over about 5-10 min later and took our name and we told her we’d wait in the bar until they are ready. We went to the bar and received excellent service, but you could see everyone besides the bartender seemed completely lost.

We finally ended up getting sat at a table 20 minutes after our reservation. That didn’t bother us at all, but should be noted. Unfortunately, they sat us right next to that freezing door that people were in and out of every 30 seconds. We asked to move to another table they just cleared off, and I told them it’s totally fine if it wasn’t an option. The hostess said it was fine and we moved.

We waited about 10-15 minutes and never got greeted. We flagged a hostess and told her we were waiting. She ran off to grab a server. We waited another 5-10 before leaving.

I used to be a server/bartender myself so I know it’s not easy, but the management in this restaurant is horrific… if there even is a manager. The poor hostesses are outworking everyone because they are both bussing, helping clean the bar, stocking the server station, and getting waters for tables. It might be better to have a busser, or at least have one hostess stay at the podium at all times so one person (plus a manager) handles the seating.

The taller hostess there that night obviously seemed flustered but did a great job being friendly, keeping her cool, and was busting her butt the entire time, so kudos to her. Seriously, that girl deserves a raise. They need to clean up the front of house bad. We probably won’t go back there until we see a sign indicating there is new management.

Went there to celebrate 2 birthdays..there were 4 of us. Grandson enjoyed his steak meal, and his wife enjoyed her veggie pasta. My daughter had the steak and lobster. She said steak was fine but lobster was so-so. Worst of all was my lagostino taco meal..menu called it lobster. By far the absolute worst meal I’ve ever had! Stale, gritty tortillas filled with total soggy mush. Two tiny pieces of lagostino..I ate part of one taco. Truly was slop..unidentifiable slop. Very plain black beans and super spicy rice. Honey butter instead of regular butter for rolls. First and last time at this overpriced place. Take the “lobster” tacos off the menu.

The food was very good everyone enjoyed their meals. We were there early on Christmas Eve so not super busy. The atmosphere was nicer than we expected, one of our guests commented it was not what he expected in a positive way,
Service was less than one would expect at a dinner service… Reaching across and in front of people to hand the guest their plate is something I would expect at a hash house, but dinner where there is plenty of room to get to each guest is just lazy. She never introduced herself so I had to ask on our way out who our server was … I would go back for the food and we all agreed if Kelly was not our server it would have been a very pleasant experience…

This was our first time here. Walking in was not what I expected. I was thinking more fine dining, but this had more of a bar feel. However, that did not matter. The food was Amazing. We ordered a couple different steaks with them all coming to the table cooked to perfection. The brussel sprouts were delicious. Make sure to order a chocolate martini or a mai tai. The drinks were great. Our server Payton was one of the best! She was attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. She had a great personality as well. She made our first time experience amazing. We will definitely be back soon.

My fiancé and I ordered carry out from this restaurant (our first time trying this place) we both ended up getting food poisoning from their seafood. We called the place to tell them and the first person we spoke to didn’t seem to care and no one did anything about it nor called us back. I called back a second time asking to speak to management and still no one apologized or rectified the situation. The food is definitely not worth the price. I definitely would not recommend this place. Very disappointed. To treat customers so rudely. Unacceptable. But if you want to spend $150 to get food poisoning and to get treated disrespectfully…enjoy Addison’s Steakhouse.

Came here for Valentine’s Day and it was an absolute disaster. Service was painfully slow with zero communication. It took over 30 minutes just to get drinks, and after sitting there for more than an hour and a half with no food, we finally asked to leave.

Suddenly, and conveniently, our food came out the moment we said we were done waiting. It was cold, rushed, and clearly sitting somewhere for who knows how long. No apology. No explanation. No acknowledgment of the delays at any point.

Being busy is not an excuse for ignoring guests. Valentine’s Day is not a surprise on the calendar, yet this place was completely unprepared. If you can’t handle a holiday crowd, don’t take the reservations.

Wasted time, wasted money, and a ruined evening. Do not recommend.

Never, and I mean never go here if you have a large party and on a holiday. The place is not suited to seat more than 2-4 at a time. Very cramped. Exceptionally disorganized management.

1. I do not blame the servers or bartenders about our experience as they did the best they could with the unorganization. I blame the ownership and management, explicitly. 3:00 Reservation on Thanksgiving and didn’t get seated until 4:15. 10 of our party of 19 had to leave as we were seated so they could not enjoy the Thanksgiving.

2. When 2 of us tried speaking with the manager after 45 minutes waiting a call came in and she took the call as if our needs were not important. It was about securing more reservations and anything to collect the next dollar.

3. My wife and I were beyond frustrated at this point so we fortunately decided on splitting a burger which was decent, but fries were uncooked. The rest of our table ordered the turkey special for $37.50/each and other than the pies, it was awful!

4. To make matters worse — slammed wall to wall with people for holiday dining and they STILL accepted take out take out orders where door dash and Ubers were waiting and ON THANKSGIVING!

Their main goal was very clear. It was not about making the holiday experience a success for the patron, but get in as many as they can to make a buck. Like I said — this was all on ownership down to management. We will not spend another penny in that place based on that selfish business model alone.

Mercy on the servers and bartenders that put up with working there!

Addison’s is one of my favorites in McHenry, I have experienced consistently amazing service. Tonight we celebrated my mother in law’s Birthday and Kelly was beyond awesome! I love how everyone works together as a team. They have many great dishes, a good variety in their menu and I love that they have a charcuterie board for an appetizer, so fun!

Probably one of the top five restaurants in McHenry county you can tell whoever’s in charge here really cares about the food that they’re putting on your table. We had a great server. They were accommodating with our kids every dish we tried was delicious.
