this place is a definite gem , was out visiting my daughter not to far from here (i’m from the bronx) , daughter said “there’s this lil spot down the road” decided to try it out , was definitely impressed by the quality of the food very fresh and tasty full of flavor had a few dishes from them , shrimp with lobster sauce, sweet and sour chicken, sliced chicken with garlic sauce , chicken with broccoli, they gave us 2 homemade ice teas and 2 sodas for free, spent like 80$ on the food but well worth it

I’ve been craving Chinese, but wasn’t sure what the best local spot in the area was. Despite some of the lower reviews, I decided to try Golden House because of their lunch specials. A choice of soup and an entree for only $8.50?! Yes, please!
For a weekday lunch, my pickup order took a little less than 15 minutes. Not bad, overall. My food was piping hot and the portion sizes were huge—easily enough for some leftovers! The woman at the counter was incredibly friendly and my Chicken and Broccoli tasted great! They also seem to have a lot of varying options in terms of spice and any dietary needs.
Like most of the places in Putnam Lake, the parking on Haviland Road isn’t ideal. The restaurant has a small parking lot, but parking can be a bit limited. And I will say, while the restaurant appeared clean, the door leading inside is not the most accessible. It was incredibly heavy and wasn’t the easiest to maneuver. Perhaps, I’ll opt for delivery the next time I order.
Regardless, Golden House is such a great local spot!

SOOOO GOOD! I ordered the fried dumplings, shrimp fried rice, vegetable lo mein and lemon chicken. The fried dumplings were perfect and the sauce was on point. The shrimp lo mein was fresh and the lo mein and chicken were also excellent.
The service was super friendly and they gave me a free lemonade.

The menu at Golden House is exceptional. The lunch special is especially noteworthy, as it is a great deal. 11-3 Monday- Saturday (tuesday closed), a meal, side of rice, and a soda (or soup if you are feeling fancy). I usually even have let overs!
The atmosphere at Golden House is also outstanding. Each member of the staff is friendly and attentive, willing to have conversations with you and make sure you have an enjoyable experience. They are very approachable and sometimes I even consider them friends.
Overall, Golden House is a hidden gem. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the drinks are outstanding. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience, then here is a great choice. I make sure to celebrate all Kaylee and Cory days here, and I will continue to do so until the end of my days.

Very disappointed by the food last night. We ordered sesame chicken combo and chicken with broccoli combo. The sesame chicken was hard and dry not a lot of meet under the crust, the chicken with broccoli I would called it broccoli with chicken only a few pieces of chicken and last but not least the pork fried rice not pork or anything on it just plain yellow rice. Very poor quality of the food. Shouldn’t lower the quality to keep a low price.

When we left the city, we were worried that we’d miss our Chinese food take out, but we discovered Golden House right away. It’s a local, family owned great place with very friendly service. We often call to compliment them, or give feedback, and we always tip. Even on takeout folks. We were not surprised that they made improvements to our favorite dishes. And they do run and very tidy, well kept kitchen and foster a culture of hospitality. And if you want a recommendation, Chicken with Black Bean Sauce #74 is by far the best we’ve had. And we throw in some pork lo mein and couple pork egg rolls, and you’re set. Great take out night. So glad they’re here! SAndy

The people here went out of their way to be helpful snd friendly, and double checked the order for accuracy. The food was also really good and super fresh. I definitely recommend this place and will be coming back again!

Called in our order of spring rolls, sesame chicken, garlic chicken, and a pint of house lo mien (has chicken, shrimp, pork, etc). A very nice person answered the phone and took the order.
Order was ready to pick up in 15 minutes, ready to go at the front. The place is a kitchen, because they only do take out. Smells clean with a good Chinese takeout food smell. The staff was cheery, payed in cash don’t know if they take card. Food was only $27.
The spring rolls were cooked well but a little mushy inside but had good flavor.
The sesame chicken was very good. Chicken was lightly sauced and cooked where it was still juicy. A lot of takeout Chinese places over sauce and over cook the chicken in my opinion, Golden house did neither of these thankfully!
The lo mien had all the meat! It was a little bland. But the meat was cooked well. Especially the shrimp.
The chicken with garlic sauce was not that spicy but a good zip. Chicken again moist and well cooked.
We got both the chicken dishes as combinations, which comes with rice and an egg roll. The egg roll was a little over fried but still had good flavor and crispy. The rice was not oily and the veggies in it were not over steamed, which was really tasty.
Yes this is a American Chinese restaurant not authentic Chinese food. Others are mad about this, but that is what a Chinese takeout restaurant is supposed to be!!
