Great restaurant but easily the worst dry aged steak I’ve ever eaten. At nearly a $100 price point….it didn’t meet expectations. Not even close. The beef is as about as low grade as it gets and it’s definitely NOT grass fed. I’ve had a better steak experience at a local chain (Ruth Chris, Outback). This is too great a hotel to have overpriced food.

What a wonderful experience we had at Southern Roots this evening! The food was fantastic. The venison was wonderful, tender, full of flavor. Beef cheeks were also tender and delicious. Nice presentation as well. Our server, Christian, was amazing. Thank you! We will definitely be back!

Personally not typically excited about old-school fine dining restaurants and generally prefer more fun & creative menus (at any price point) … but this place was awesome! Surpassed all my expectations, and in addition to a well-comprised (and executed) fine dining menu, they had some creative chef specials that were simply outstanding. Each and every member of the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited about the food. We were sat in a big comfy booth with a view of the water, and the non-stuffy yet still refined ambiance was perfect. Excited to have a restaurant of this caliber just up the road. Will be back soon.

Hubby and I went to Southern Roots last week. We shared the mushroom risotto and beef tenderloin. Also each had a glass of wine. Food was really delicious. Mushroom risotto is plentiful and not sure I would be able to eat this by myself. Really rich and went perfectly with the tenderloin. Steak was prepared to a perfect medium rare, very tender and flavorful. Server was great, but not sure service would be consistent with a fine dining experience. Atmosphere is beautiful and we were seated next to the window as we requested. Even though it is quite pricey, I would go back again especially for a special occasion.

Loved our dinners here—two nights in a row. Red Snapper, the full fish, was delicious and ample to split between two people, well worth the effort in filleting it. Grouper fillets the next night were just as good.

We recently returned to Southern Roots and it was delicious!! We ate there 2 nights in a row, and wished we returned the 3rd instead of visiting the Wash House.
Our favorite things were the wedge salad, the ranch is amazing! We also had the Pork Chop both nights, it was soo good, the sauce and sweet potatoes were perfect accompaniments. My son had the Beef Wellington, it was good, but he preferred my Pork Chop.
Finally, you MUST try the espresso martini here, the whipped caramel foam is soo good.
The bartender Luke, and his coworker were also very friendly and provided great service.

Wow, the setting, the food, the service, top notch. It’s what you would expect from a place named the Grand Hotel. Gregory was not only a great server but also quite the philosopher. This is exactly what I was hoping for but then it exceeded my expectations. The dishes shown are beef tenderloin and swordfish. As we were enjoying our meal we watched the sun slowly sink into the horizon over a fabulous view of the bay.
