I had the special. The breaded chicken in a marsala sauce with mushrooms was perfectly done. The garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies was so good!
Warning! The desserts are made in house and DELICIOUS!! Everyone tried the tiramasu and husband had the bread pudding. He raved about it.
We will definitely be back and look forward to trying that burger people in town talk about on our next visit for a lunch.
Definitely had leftovers and can’t wait to have it for lunch tomorrow.
Great job chef!
Once we found our way in, we were seated quickly, but not because the hostess was standing there waiting; she just happened to be walking by at the same time that we walked in. It was only five something, and there were only three other tables , so they were not at all busy. We then sat there for way too long before a waitress finally came over and asked, ” have you been helped yet?”. This was one of the only times where the service seemed normal. She apologized and acted professional. But then, once taking our drink and appetizer order, and then a little later our food order, the waitress was looking outside constantly, her eyes darting around. Not looking at us at all, it was really strange. Like somebody that’s being stalked or worried that something’s about to happen. My guess is she is on drugs.
They bring you the cut up baguette with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping, which is a wonderful touch, but they bring you this huge thing of oil and vinegar and then the most laughably small amount of bread I’ve ever seen. I thought it was a mistake. When we asked for more bread after it quickly ran out, they brought another basket of bread that was identical (see pic). It took a while to ask for more bread, because our waitress never once checked on us, though she walked past us constantly. Never even looked in our direction.
After we were done with the bread and calamari appetizer she cleared my plate and silverware, but when the main entrees were given to us she did not bring new silverware. I had to ask her. Not a huge deal, but again any server worth their salt is aware of these kind of things on their own.
The last thing I didn’t like about the service, was that when you pay they bring the card reader to your table, do it all there in front of you, hand you the little machine and stand there and watch you while you choose the tip. I don’t like that kind of pressure.
Now for the good. The atmosphere was pretty nice in my opinion, even though I see other reviewers say it was terrible. Open kitchen where you can see the three or four chefs, all dressed professionally. And the food was quite good. The calamari appetizer was great, as were both entrees (the burger, which at $18 is priced pretty well these days and comes with bacon and avocado), and the osso bucco. The lamb was not as delectable as I had hoped, but pretty solid 4 out of 5. No complaints. They had some nice beers on tap too.
The difference in our bill between paying cash or using a card was almost five bucks though, which also bothers me. If you’re running a restaurant that is fairly high-end, you shouldn’t be passing on credit card charges to your customers.
All that being said, I may go back sometime. Like I said the food was good. And the service, though kind of annoying and weird, wasn’t “I’m never coming back” horrible.
