Our 3 dogs were also welcomed so we ate two nights in a row. Cocktails galore, something for everyone. By far the best food and service we have had all week. Award winning venue… try it!
Of course we had to start with the “grounds for divorce” cocktail .
Starters were chilling prawns and scallops. Mains Monkfish and a Burger. Crumble for sweet. All excellent.
Service top class. Conservatory restaurant was quite but it was 2.30 on a midweek afternoon in early March. The bar was fairly busy.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back.
Thanks again to all of the staff, have a wonderful Christmas.
The food quality across the table was consistently strong. The rest of our group ordered fish dishes, and everyone was full of praise. The oysters, served fresh and also panko-breadcrumbed, were a particular favourite, and the monkfish and haddock both went down extremely well. It’s clear the kitchen knows what it’s doing and puts care into every dish.
My only real sticking point on the menu was the price of the vegan cabbage main. At £28, I’m not sure how they justify it. I appreciate good produce and thoughtful cooking, but that felt a bit steep for what it was. We avoided this option due to the price.
Service was warm, friendly, and attentive for most of the meal, and we genuinely felt looked after. The only hiccup came right at the end when most of the staff seemed to go on their lunch break just as we were trying to pay. Getting the bill took longer than it should have, which took the shine off things slightly. Because of that, I ended up leaving a smaller tip than I normally would.
Overall though, very good food, especially for fish lovers, and solid veggie cooking despite the limited choice. I’d go back – just hopefully with quicker access to the bill next time.
This pub is a great place to spend a rainy afternoon or relax for a meal after a long walk on the beach.
I think it is slightly on the pricey side but the quality of the food does deliver.
I had a couple of meals and drinks in this place and it was probably my favourite pub in Seahouses.
Restaurant was busy but service was really good. We were in the orangery which had a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
