I went to Savoir in the Heights on a Sunday morning for brunch with my wife and our toddler. Savoir markets themselves as a chef-driven restaurant that focuses on from-scratch cooking with seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and vendors.

Parking is valet-only, but if you don’t mind walking a couple of minutes, there is free street parking available on Heights Boulevard. Inside, the restaurant is beautiful, with a sleek bar, a stylish dining room, and an outdoor patio. They were accommodating to families and brought out a high chair for our toddler.

When looking over the brunch menu, I was surprised to see that they did not offer a traditional breakfast option like eggs, bacon, and toast. I even asked if they could make something simple like that, and they said no. I’ve never encountered a brunch menu without a basic breakfast option.

+Open Brunch Sandwich for $18 – BLT with truffle oil and a fried egg, served with potatoes. This was very average. It was essentially a piece of bread topped with BLT ingredients, and I ended up eating it like a standard breakfast anyway. Nothing memorable here. – 3/5

Overall, Savoir is a visually impressive restaurant with a polished atmosphere, but the food does not live up to the setting. I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Haven’t been here in a couple of years. So glad I came back. The service is exceptional. The food is so yummy. The drinks were phenomenal. Special thanks and metion to Juan and the rest of the wait staff. We were treated like royalty. Even got a special tour of the Steak room. Can’t wait to come back and try that.

Exceptional experience from start to finish! Savoir is truly one of Houston’s hidden gems. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and elegant — the perfect blend of upscale and comfortable. Every dish was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious; you can taste the care and creativity in every bite. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, and the wine selection was top-tier. Whether it’s a special night out or just treating yourself to something extraordinary, Savoir never disappoints. Highly recommend!

Our family came here last night for dinner. I had read online about this place and we weren’t disappointed at the end of the dinner! We had to add a person to the resy last min and they accommodated us without a problem. Rachel greeted us with a big smile and explained the specials to us. I am a big wine person and she was very patient in making suggestions and bringing samples for me to try. I had a glass of Argentinian Chardonnay, a well made wine and very reasonable. I chose this restaurant because it has something on the menu for everyone and my kids are picky and unadventurous. We got the onion soup, pizza, lamb shank, risotto, salmon and the bacon wrapped chicken. Everything was delicious! My risotto was cooked just right, not too al dente, not mushy, fresh mushrooms, not too cheesy or creamy and with just the right amount of flavor. My son who only eats burgers tried the salmon and he even liked it! The only thing we are slightly disappointed was the pizza, mostly the crust, it was bit too doughy. It was not bad, just we are more of the neopolitan type pizza lovers. It was well executed with gorgonzola, caramelized onions, arugula and prosciutto cut thinly. Brittany the manager came to check on us several times. She’s also in charge of the wine program and I have to say, it’s an excellent, well-thought out wine list. She selects well made wines, from different regions and varieties and are very reasonably priced. My $13 glass of Mendoza chardonnay was great. We definitely recommend this place and will be back.

First time back since they reopened with new ownership and new menu. Good atmosphere and service.

The mezcal fleur cocktail was good. Not super floral. But definitely very smoky. So careful if that’s not your thing.

Escargot was tasty and pretty standard as the dish goes.

The octopus was very soft and tender, good very well; but I think the dish could use a little more salt and seasoning. Looking at the color and texture of the sauce I expected just more flavor which wasn’t there.

What shame See photos to show it’s empty ! How did my favorite 5 Star Hide away quickly turn into a 1 Star? This is the 4th time I’ve come into the restaurant and have been treated with a side eye and unresponsive service. At this time the restaurant is completely empty and it’s 4:01pm , servers are standing in the corner watching me and no one approached my table until I spoke up and asked if I came at a bad time ?!!! When I came in the GM was doing paper work at the bar and the bartender was perplexed what to do so he signals her and she looks up and goes back to her work. If I didn’t love their Octopus and Escargot, I would have left which is what it seems they would have preferred or not minded. Maybe they don’t think I tip! So sad and was my secret hide away after a sad or hard day! My 8th time here I know the menu like the back of my hand and the last few times I’ve been looked over or ignored . What a shame !

Absolutely beautiful atmosphere and every dish and beverage was top tier. However, my initial waiter was unpleasant and kinda condescending in just the looks he gave me when I asked for anything. Thank God Chris, the general manager, came to the rescue and salvaged my night and made me look forward to returning (after not wanting to)! He is a wonderful asset and I so appreciated his noticing the situation and providing a remedy. Literally, the seafood risotto was some of the best I’ve ever had!

Went for lunch today for the 1st time. Food & staff get an A+.

The restaurant itself, however, felt very disjointed. Beautiful furniture mixed with obviously fake flowers in the large arrangements and fake greenery in the light fixtures. It would be better to not have those arrangements at all, in lieu of real flowers. There were real flowers on the tables, which was sweet. The outdoor seating was better suited for the French vibe. The upholstered chairs inside were too formal.

The biggest disconnect was the music. 70’s rock was playing the entire time. It made no sense. Stevie Nicks is not what you want to hear at a French restaurant. They need some French instrumental music, honestly. That would elevate the experience.

The food and staff were next level amazing. The cocktails were SUPERB. The price was fair for what we had. Parking was easy (it was slow, so plenty of spaces.)

With a few tweaks, this place could be great. We will return.

The restaurant just reopened with a new menu and new owner. I didn’t dine here previously so I cannot compare. On the day we went there wasn’t much of a crowd. Sadly, I don’t think this will continue and finding a table will be a challenge going forward. The menu was replete with so many items I wanted to try that I will have to return multiple times to have them all. We had the escargot which I eat wherever they are on the menu. They were traditionally prepared and presented but I have to say they were the largest and most plump escargot I have ever had. And the fresh herbs boasted a wonderful flavor profile. And the thick toast that accompanied it to sop up the butter and parsley jus was outstanding as well. Seems kind of silly to mention that toast but it made an impression remarkably. The shrimp and grits is highly recommended. The grits were perfect …not too much texture and not mushy. The sharp cheddar cheese added flavor but did not overwhelm the grits with the heaviness that some cheese additions do. And the shrimp are very large jumbo size. Also perfectly cooked. The tuna tartar which is a common item on countless menus is best in class. With avocado, ginger and chives the fish was extra flavorful. This item may have only been offered for Restaurant Week but they have a tuna crudo on the regular menu that I would likely try in its stead. The open brunch sandwich with truffle oil, BLT and sunny side egg on waffle is as flavorful as imagined judging by the ingredients. The challah French toast was perfectly fine but it did not wow me.

The ambiance is wonderful with floor to ceiling glass room dividers that I imagine would keep the noise volume down when the restaurant is full. The staff was all very pleasant and accommodating.

This was one of my favorite dining experiences in Houston. Savoir makes me crave visiting often and not too many restaurants do that for me.
