Saddened to hear of some concerning behavior from some staff. A former alumni student of mine who is a new college student in area. She shared about a recent visit which she was very excited to take to the shop. Her
wait time was 30min. As she waited the shop was entirely empty until a white skinned mother and her child entered. They received
immediate service, while my former student continued to wait for an additional 10min. Another kitchen staff exited the kitchen shortly after the other family was served. Overall, my former students experience at the shoppe was pretty good, ambiance and decor was super cute and fun! However, the personal interactions and poor customer service left a significantly sour taste in her mouth, as well as mine hearing about it.

A suggestion moving forward in staff trainings- please serve the customer who arrives first, as that is how customer service should operate. This specific scenario may not have been intended to be interpreted this way, however it leaves an unfortunate impression on new visitors especially college students of color who are seeking community in a new city.

What a great themed restaurant!
About 7 of us showed up on a Saturday evening & there wasn’t anyone dining in. (Lots of folks came for ice cream though.) We sat down & they soon came out to take our order. It took a little while for some of our fried food to arrive, & we were starting to worry about their nearing closing time. Our waitress came out specifically to assure that we don’t need to be out by closing time. She said they were still busy with other customers & would need to clean up the kitchen area yet. We really appreciated her taking the time to reassure us.
We all loved the 1950s vibe & the food was delicious!

Great retro ice cream joint!! Felt like we should have wore poodle skirts and saddle shoes. We all had hard ice cream that was full of flavor and filled our cups to the brim! Well worth the stop and recommend you do as well!

Very nice experience on my first visit! I was in the area working and thought I’d give this place a visit, and I wasn’t disappointed. I had a large, delicious banana milkshake, a bacon cheeseburger with macaroni bites. If I’m in the area again and I’m looking for a quick and satisfying meal Pop’s Malt Shoppe will definitely be on my mind.

Great food, awesome service and the decor of the place is the cherry on top time travel style. Pop’s trio sampler was the way to start, the bacon Mac & cheese burger was cooked to perfection and so was the BBQ chicken panini, the milkshake and the orange cream soda float were amazing. So worth the drive and will definitely go back again as the kids and I enjoyed our first visit their. Thanks Pop’s

It was like going back in time. It was a fun experience with the kids. This place reminds you of going to the local ice cream shop when you were a kid. If you are looking for something fun to do with your family this is a great place to start your night or even end it. Everyone who was working the night we stopped were very helpful and friendly. They have so many different flavors to choose from and the food was delicious. Plus the price was cheaper than expected for the amount of stuff we got. So if you’re in the area please swing because and have a wonderful time.

It is a very cute ice cream shop that tucked away in kutztown. Even during lockdown on a sunday the shop is open until 10p. The staff was very nice and speedy, the eat in area looked very on brand for the 50s theme and the road was blocked off for outdoor dining.

Pops is a true old time malt shop. A throw back to the 1950s.. including the music! Such a charming place. They have so many different flavors its hard to choose. And then they have all kinds of sundaes, shakes and even frozen yogurt!! The workers there are always friendly!! Definitely an ice cream lovers paradise!!

Fine basic burger and ice cream spot. Does not provide attentive table service so if you’re picky and looking to be waited on hand and foot this is not for you. The food was good. I had a cheeseburger and french fries and someone else had a chicken and bacon sandwich with Mac and cheese bites both of which they loved. When you come through the entrance, left is ice cream ordering and cash register and to the right is the dining area and unisex bathroom. Straight ahead through the entrance are apartments so the set up is awkward but it works.
