At our Hartwell, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I was looking for a particular combo but didn’t see it until after I ordered, even though I informed the person at the counter what I was actually looking for and it was never brought to my attention. The special order board wasn’t with the main menu, very poor placement. The mood in the place was very off putting and unfriendly. Even with a smile and conversation it wasn’t worth it so I left the food and the money. The manager said it was fine if I never returned, so I will take her suggestion.

Funniest thing I have heard all year but so true. We just sat down and our table has been dive bombed by mating flies twice already. The truth hurts sometimes but the employees reaction was priceless ( in a gewd way) and to reciprocate the sentiment the flies are out of control at this establishment at this moment. April 1,2024 it’s bad, we just noticed the flies are congregating outside and inside!

We live in Elberton and they closed our Capt D’s. My granddaughter and I love it so we drove out to Hartwell from her house in Lavonia and then home to my house in Elberton. We got there about 40 minutes before they closed. They were very gracious with us and didn’t rush us. Then even fixed us a “to go” meal to take home to my husband. We will surely go there again.

The manager I dealt with was extremely competent and keeps that place looking sharp. I unfortunately had a problem with my meal which happens from time to time but she jumped into action and took care of it and I have no doubt that mistakes like mine rarely happen period. And when they do..it’s nice to see such deliberate action to keep the customer happy .

I ordered one piece of fish in the driveway thru and it took 10 minutes of me sitting at the window waiting to get the order. Also cashier wasn’t very friendly. I said thank you and she responded with mmhm.
