I can’t believe I’ve lived in Salem for over 20 years and am only now discovering Christo’s—what a hidden gem. This is authentic Italian cuisine at its best, and you can truly taste that everything is made from scratch.

I had the brisket Bolognese, and every single bite was divine. The depth of flavor was outstanding, and the bread alone is worth the visit—absolutely incredible. My boyfriend ordered the chicken piccata, and it was so good I could have happily eaten his entire meal as well.

Beyond the food, the service was extraordinary—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Yes, the food takes a little longer to arrive, but that’s exactly what you should expect (and appreciate) when a restaurant is preparing everything fresh. It’s more than worth the wait.

We will absolutely be back, and we’ll be bringing friends with us so they can experience just how special this place is. Highly recommended

Absolutely loveeeee this place my boyfriend and I have taken each other here for both of our birthdays. The pasta is amazing, pizza is really good, the atmosphere is cozy. You get what you pay for and more.

I’m not sure why some restaurants think that people should pay too much money, but this is one that thinks that’s a good idea. My son and I went there for my granddaughters birthday the service wasn’t that great and the food wasn’t either for the price they charge. When it cost $95.00 for 3 pasta dinners no meat just pasta and sauce no drinks just water then they add their tips to the bill, probably because they no they don’t deserve one. We will not going back to this place.

This was my first visit to Christo’s, and it was wonderful. I attended a jazz night with the Bobby Torres Ensemble. The music was outstanding! We were all dancing in our seats to the Latin beat.
Christo’s is great place for intimate dining; the atmosphere is cozy and the food was all very good. I ordered a cup of minestone soup and then followed it with the Penne Rustica. Both were excellent.
The table next to mine ordered a pizza, another type of pasta entreé and a type of meat calzone which was as big as the dinner plate. I’ll have to try that next time.
I’ll definitely be back!

We love this place for the Jazz Lounge on Thursdays and sometimes Saturdays! The food is great too (just don’t add shrimp to a salad, only 3 small ones). They are usually sold out, so the service suffers a bit, but the shows normally go from 7-9:30pm so there’s plenty of time…no rush. We are on our way to becoming regulars here. 😉

First time here to have dinner and added the show to see The 4 Kings play
, nothing less than spectacular, best venue and food and service we have had for a long time. It was a perfect night of Jazz, R&B music and the pasta was right on point. Keep doing what you are doing Christo’s

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Poor Service & Food Quality

I wish I could say our latest visit to Christos was enjoyable, but it was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had at this restaurant.

We had a reservation for 6:15 PM, yet we weren’t seated until 6:20 PM. Waiting a few extra minutes wasn’t a huge issue—we assumed they needed time to prepare a table. However, once we were seated, it became clear that plenty of tables were open and were being assigned to other customers shortly after.

We ordered promptly since we already knew what we wanted—just a pizza. Yet, it took almost 40 minutes for it to arrive. To make matters worse, people who were seated after us received their pizza before we did.

The server overheard our frustration about the wait and took it upon herself to address the issue, informing us that our pizza would be out in about 5 minutes. In reality, it took longer than that. When it finally arrived, it was barely above room temperature, as if it had been sitting out for an extended period rather than served fresh.

Hoping for at least some acknowledgment or effort to correct the situation, we voiced our concerns to the server. However, nothing was done to make things right—no offer to remake the pizza, no meaningful apology, just a simple acknowledgment and nothing more.

At the end of the meal, I asked my wife if she at least enjoyed the pizza. Her response? “It tasted weird.” I started inspecting her side and found that green onions had been left on the pizza—despite her explicitly requesting they be removed.

After this disappointing experience, I reached out to Christos via Facebook Messenger—something I have done in the past with success when addressing previous issues. However, this time, they did not bother to respond. I had hoped they would take one last opportunity to rectify the situation, but their silence speaks volumes.

Christos used to be a great place, but unfortunately, that is no longer the case. My wife has been dining here for 15 years, and until now, it was one of her favorite pizza places. After this visit, she no longer wants to return.

Since the restaurant refuses to acknowledge or address customer concerns, I am writing this review so others know what to expect. If you value quality food and respectful service, I cannot recommend this restaurant anymore.

Edit: After leaving this review Christo’s reached out to me to rectify the situation. Which I greatly appreciate. I just wished the server would had done more in the moment.

The staff was snobby and wouldn’t even sit me. They put me at the bar with a to-go box. The pie was okay, but not what I wanted. Simple pepperoni is easy enough to understand but they got me something else off the menu. I will post photos of what I like, versus what I got. Not returning there for service. The pies with more than smashed tomatoes are the ones I like. Sorry Christos, but money can’t buy a preferred pie. Service and courtesy is a plus.

If I could give 10 stars for service, I would give 20 for Sarah (see picture). She was and still is an awesome lady.
The food… oooh, yes, the food . I can go on and on and on about what we had, but I won’t spoil it for anyone. You just have to go and experience it for yourselves. One tiny and little detail, PLEASE put more bread with the Mussles and Clams. But just in case they don’t, do not worry, make sure they don’t take the leftover juice and have a dunking party with the pizza edges. You will not regret it.

This is the last review I will ever do. For this week. My better half and I dined in for dinner. They were quickly able to accommodate us. We had the meatball and breadstick apps. The meatballs were well seasoned and the bread was fresh and crunchy how I like it. Would recommend. I had the meat cappatella and my gf had the clams linguini. My calzone was delicious. But it’s a lot of food. Come hungry. My gf really liked her dish.
